Phase 3 Phonics Phoneme Recognition Activity

Phase 3 Phonics Phoneme Recognition Activity

Phase 3 Phonics Phoneme Recognition Activity! Contains worksheets for all of the phase 3 sounds. j v w x y z zz qu ch sh th ng ai ee igh oa oo oo ar or ur ow oi ear air ure er Just print and go! Super easy no-prep phonics activity! Ever a popular one in my classroom, we take it in turns to be the word reader. The littlies LOVE having the power of the Reader, particularly if they get to wear a Reader hat or lanyard! We all point at the top line and listen as the Reader reads out one of the words. Once the word has been read, it's a race to circle the word as quickly as possible! Whether you choose to read out the word that has the target phoneme in, or the one without, your littlies will have to read both words and decide which one has the sounds to match what has been read out. Not only are they recognising written graphemes, they are matching these to the oral phonemes. Each worksheet is made using sounds that children often confuse (eg, 'ar' and 'or') to give them that extra bit of visual discrimination practice. All of the worksheets have nonsense/alien words in them to help your littlies to prepare for the year 1 phonics screening. As always, my products are made using the OpenDyslexic font in order to help our dyslexic learners. We are dyslexia friendly! Included: - Worksheets for all phase 3 sounds. - Instructions.

Phase 3 Phonics Word Sort - ar

Phase 3 Phonics Word Sort - ar

For an easy to prepare and quick phonics activity that children can use independently or as group work, look no further! All your littlies need to do is to read each word (put sound buttons on if necessary) and decide whether it has the target phoneme in it. If it does, they place it in the column headed 'ar'. If it doesn't, they place it in the column headed 'not ar'. For added challenge, they can write out the words in each column instead. Aside from your standard sorting activity, this has been successfully used as a relay race/scavenger hunt. Hide the cards around the classroom, send the children off to look for them in relay fashion or in teams. Useful as a holding activity for more confident phase 3 learners, or great as a directed teaching tool for those just embarking on their phase 3 journey. Laminate to use again and again! As always, this resource is made using the OpenDyslexic font. Tried and tested in my classroom, and many schools, this really does make a difference for dyslexic learners. We are dyslexia friendly!

Phase 3 Phonics Roll and Read - or

Phase 3 Phonics Roll and Read - or

A simple but fun phonics game that caters to independent work, group work and informal assessment. With some unfamiliar words, it is also a great way to facilitate vocabulary growth. All the littlies need to do is roll a dice, find the column, trace the word and read it aloud. All of the words contain the phoneme 'or', pronounced as in 'fork', not in 'work'. This can be laminated and used again, or stuck in their exercise or guided work book. There are 5 different game boards, so the littlies can't just copy their neighbour if there is more than one game going on. There's also an option to print the boards with grey writing (which are perfect for tracing over), or the boards with black writing (perfect for focusing on reading). As always, this resource is made using the OpenDyslexic font. Tried and tested in my classroom, and many schools, this really does make a difference for dyslexic learners. We are dyslexia friendly! The pack includes: - Instructions for use. - 5 game boards (grey writing). - 5 game boards (black writing).
