Gratitude Journal - 52 prompts for a whole year

Gratitude Journal - 52 prompts for a whole year

Teaching Character Education? Showing gratitude has been proven to increase long-term well-being, improve health, relationships, emotions and help us bounce back from stressful experiences. With the significant increase in stress and anxiety among our young people, it is more important than ever that as teachers, we are catering to our students’ emotional needs in the classroom. This Gratitude Journal is the ideal way to help our students focus on the good aspects of their life and to appreciate their blessings – every one of us has something to be thankful for and this journal will be sure to highlight it! The journal contains 52 prompts, one for each week of the year. Each prompt is unique and encourages reflection on a wide range of life experiences, allowing for much more creativity and diversity in thinking and responses. It is not labelled by month or date so can be started at any time in the year – new starts don’t have to only begin on January 1st, and gratitude isn't just for Thanksgiving! You can let students take them home to complete as a private activity, or it can be done in school maybe at the start of the week as a Monday Morning Meeting. You will receive both a PRINTABLE and DIGITAL version to suit your needs! The digital one is ideal for opening up on Google Slides as it can be completed and looked at on any device, whenever and wherever! P.S. It’s also great for teachers too: we can all take time to have an attitude of gratitude!

Why Choose Geography? KS3 Options Lesson WITH HURRICANE EXPERIENCE

Why Choose Geography? KS3 Options Lesson WITH HURRICANE EXPERIENCE

A lesson to tie in to the Royal Geographical Society Ambassadors visiting to inspire students to pick the subject at GCSE. Include the Hurricane Experience first. I have included a description of how below:The start of the lesson asks the students to shut their eyes and follow one instruction when given to them by the teacher. You will need TAs or other teachers for this task. Play the hyperlinks overlinked on the first slide. Use one TA to turn the fans on and throw leaves to blow over the students (3 fans are best). The other TA should run round with a moisture gun and spray the students imitating rain. You as the teacher hit a drum as thunder. When the siren hyperlink is sounded the students are to lay under the desks. Get the students to write of their feelings and experience of the disaster afterwards. The starter is the 5 Ws of geographical enquiry to a house that has had its possessions ripped away by the spiral motion of the Hurricane. The main is to write about their experience in the hurricane disaster with the extension asking them for 5 items they would have with them in an emergency of this magnitude. The main is also looking at the different careers in Geography and misconceptions about the subject at further study and employment- like you can only be a Geography teacher and that it does not lead to well-paid employment like Lawyers and the financial industry. I have included a worksheet and posters to put up in your classroom.
