This resource contains two CV templates that you can fill in with your own information. The CV's are formatted and have space for you to type in your specific information. There are prompts to help you with this.
They are standard CV's and it will generally be up to personal preference as to which one you will choose to use.
It would be useful to have basic word skills to work with the documents. Delete any information not required by selecting and using the Delete key. Remember a hard page break is Ctrl Enter. Use this instead of just continually using the enter key as this can muck up formatting.
Develop students’ skills of evaluation and persuasive writing, as well as their understanding of what a CV is and what a good one looks like.
Students start by thinking about their own aspirations. They are then given the chance to read snippets from eight very different CVs, which they use to make an Lord Sugar-style decision about which of the eight candidates they would hire for the role!
The lesson concludes with a writing task for students to demonstrate their writing and evaluation skills.
All you need is a printer for the resources, blue tac to stick the CVs around the room, and a powerpoint projector!
Have fun! :)
This power point will take an hour lesson and talk learners through how to write a CV. There are examples on the power point of what they should be putting, and examples of what they should be avoiding. There is also a template to write the CV into before typing it up.
This resource is an example C.V. that I have used for several successful job applications. It shows how to be concise while still showcasing what I have done within two sides of A4, as most organisations will expect your C.V. to be no longer than this. You may have had fewer jobs than I have had, so you may have more room to give some more detail on the key things that you have been responsible for and have achieved.

This resource pack contains a plan, all resources referenced in the plan as well as a Powerpoint that supports with activities and discussions for each task. The plan includes links to the functional skills entry level writing, reading, speaking and listening and ICT frameworks.
This was originally made for a Post 16 class in an SEN school, with levels ranging from Functional Skills Entry Level 2 to Level 1. I was tasked with preparing 18 young people to understand the use of a CV and to be able to write one themselves and I struggled to find resources that broke this task down into manageable chunks for SEN learners.
I have included two examples of CVs my students were able to make as well, I have used pseudonyms and removed all personal data.
I hope other educators find this useful!
