Week 6 of 10 English and Reading unit on the book ‘First Blood: Spy Master’ by Jan Burchett and Sara Vogler (approx. 7-8 hours worth of planning per week). A great book for The Tudors topic in KS2. I used the book last year during remote learning, recorded chapters and set writing tasks. The children loved the book and the mystery of it so I decided to revisit it this year and expand the learning. Reading lessons have been planned in the style of Jane Considine’s Hooked on Books approach. 2 x demonstration comprehension sessions (Mondays and Wednesdays) which are based on Spy Master. 2 x book talk sessions (Tuesdays and Thursdays) where the children will be in mixed ability groups, each group with a different text to focus on together. 1 x independent comprehension session (Fridays), which is based on the book, Spy Master and completed in a similar way to the demo lessons, but with less discussion and modeling. A whole school Music week set of planning for EYFS-Year 4. In our school, we have 3 explicit Music weeks with a focus on a couple of the interrelated dimensions of music. This week is all based around rhythm, pulse and tempo. There is enough planning for each year group to complete Music all day for the week. • Boomwhacker planning – Monday-Friday (6 page doc.) • Rhythmic Basketball planning – Tuesday-Friday (6 page doc.) • Untuned Percussion planning – Monday-Friday (8 page doc.) • Listening and Appraising planning – complete daily session (2 page doc.) • Rhythm and Pulse activities – complete a couple of tasks from this daily and build up throughout the week (3 page doc.) Boomwhacker, rhythmic basketball and untuned percussion planning has a progression map for the week on the first page. On the Monday, we had a junk drumming workshop for 30 mins with each class.
