This is a beautifully touching story about a young boy who wants to take his grandma to the beach where she grew up one last time to see her turtles before she goes blind, but when they get there the beach is full of rubbish. He sees how upset his grandma is so wants to do something about it. There are some twists and turns and surprises for the reader.

Here she meets the Manyak tribe and finds out why their land is being destroyed and why the orangutans are under threat of extinction. She learns that she can talk to animals and how to use her newly discovered magical powers to take revenge. She makes friends in unlikely places and experiences a new life which she doesn’t want to leave. The book highlights the environmental issues in Borneo where vast swathes of land are being deforested and then planted with palm oil.
