4 lessons focusing on the non-specific and specific responses to infection. I have split the lessons into 4 parts due to the subject material being very complex. The lessons cover Edexcel specification links 6.8 - 6.10 but can be used with other exam boards The lessons have many different opportunities for assessment and recalling previous learnt material.

2 lessons looking at the causes, symptoms and treatments of 2 deadly diseases. Edexcel Spec link 6.6 There is plenty of opportunity for class discussion and links into history for both diseases. I have included graded tasks in both lessons as my students enjoy working their way up to the higher grades.

Edexcel Spec link 6.7 (i) (ii) An introduction to how bacteria are able to spread from one person to another. We then look at how the body protects itself against pathogen entry. This is a circus activity where students gather information from around the room (cards provided). Finally we research how bacteria cause the disease with endotoxins and exotoxins.

Edexcel specification link 6.5 (i) (ii) Two power point complete lessons focusing on the structure of viruses and bacteria. The second lesson looks at the lytic and lysogenic cycles with a short video clip on retrovirus reproduction - this will be looked at again when we study HIV. The lesson includes an exam question with mark scheme.

We have started using this technique in our science department to allow students to highlight areas where they make mistakes. This could be due to misreading questions; not understanding the material; not understanding the questions; calculation questions or not using correct terminology. Once our students were aware of where the mistakes were being made, we gave them focused targets and it has helped improve their performance.

There are many opportunities for assessment in the power points and an exam question for each lesson.

Edexcel Specification Point: 5.20; 5.21; 5.22 covered. A complete lesson discussing the implications in a global change of climate. There are opportunities for group/pair discussion plus exam style questions and answers to check understanding.

Edexcel IAL specification - students learn how the data for a model is produced and then extrapolated. We then look at factors other than carbon dioxide which can influence the model. Limitations of models are discussed.

A power point lesson which guides students through data in the form of carbon dioxide levels; global temperature; rising sea levels and glacial melting. Students gain practice in data analysis which is vital in this module. There are also a series of exam questions with answers to support their understanding. This lesson links with Edexcel IAL Unit 4

Edexcel Biology - specification refernce 5.17 and 5.18 2 powerpoint lessons investigating the Carbon Cycle and Carbon sinks. The second lesson investigates the causes of climate change including the issues of methane from farming.

POwer point lesson focusing on the structure and function of DNA in the organism including tasks and questions to challenge/extend students knowledge.

An A level lesson focusing on productivity of plants. Students are introduced to the terms GPP and NPP plus the calculation. I have included an exam question with markscheme.

An overview of the practical students should perform. We find it difficult to do the experiment so it is a theoretical lesson. I have provided students with results and there is a practice exam question.

A lesson introducing the reactions for the build up and break down of ATP in cells including its uses and why it is the universal energy currency of a cell. I have also included 3 exam questions to test students knowledge. Mark scheme included.

Acceleration PPT recaps over the speed and velocity covered in previous lesson. There are worksheets with questions on with varying ability of challenge. Graphing speed introduces the idea of how different graphs can be used to calculate distance, speed and velocity. I have used other people´s resources found online - Matrix car chase and calculation worksheets.
