Financial Accounts for GCSE Business Studies

This set of classroom materials provides differentiated worksheets on the tricky topic of financial accounts and ratio analysis for GCSE Business Studies. Volume 1 is divided into two sections: Section A deals with Profit and Loss Accounts/ Income Statements, while Section B deals with Balance Sheets/ Statements of Financial Position. Both sections contain 21 differentiated worksheets together with full answers and model written responses with the highlighted features that examiners hope to see. These can either be printed or projected onto a whiteboard. Perhaps most importantly, this volume offers teachers two levels of classroom differentiation. The 21 worksheets contained in this volume are produced in two different versions, each discretely coded A (lower ability) or B (higher ability). Another benefit is that all students are working to produce largely the same end result, but with different degrees of support. From this, teachers can deliver both differentiated and fully inclusive lessons by also being able to give whole-class feedback on the same exercise. Volume 2 supports student reflection and self-assessment by containing detailed tracking sheets. Indeed, students can review how well they have met the separate learning objectives provided for each individual worksheet and set themselves personal targets for improvement. These tracking sheets can then be used to demonstrate actual progress towards lesson targets.

Cash Flow Analysis for GCSE Business Studies

The worksheets contained in Volume 1 have been carefully designed to take students step-by-step through cash flow analysis to achieve deep understanding of the underlying principles. That journey begins with simple exercises on inflows and outflows of cash and ends with more complex work on the liquidity effects of trade on credit sales and purchases. In doing so, teachers will find these materials are equally useful for both GCSE level students and for AS level students who are new to the subject. Perhaps most importantly, this volume offers teachers three levels of classroom differentiation; every worksheet is produced in three different versions, each discretely coded A (lower ability), B (middle ability) or C (higher ability). Another benefit is that all students will be working to produce the same end product, but with different degrees of support. From this, teachers can deliver both highly differentiated and fully inclusive lessons by also being able to give whole-class feedback. However, please note that the language used in the descriptive information in the lower ability worksheets may occasionally differ from the other versions. Full answer sheets are provided for all worksheets. These can either be printed or projected onto a whiteboard. Volume 2 contains 13 short activities designed to be used either as starters or plenaries and are linked each individual worksheet in Volume 1 to help cement understanding. Again, these have full answer sheets. Student reflection and self-assessment is supported in the detailed tracking sheets in Volume 3. Indeed, students can review how well they have met the separate learning objectives provided for each individual worksheet. These tracking sheets can be used to demonstrate progress towards lesson targets.
