I have written a set of unofficial exam papers for the Research Methods section of the exams. This is the 7th set. The stimulus for this one is a correlational study investigating the relationship between age and the accuracy of eye-witness testimony. There are 24 marks as per the real exam and students should be allocated 30 minutes to complete it. The comprehensive mark scheme allows for easy marking and peer marking. This paper tests: Identification of the research method Sampling Hypothesis writing Pilot study Demand characteristics Calculation of the mean Displaying results from a table into a graph Interpretation of the strength & direction of a correlation Writing a debrief I usually use narrow margins, so if the formatting is out, then change the margins to narrow. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with me on this website, or on twitter @blonde_pretzel or YouTube: Psychology Students Thanks very much for looking at my resource.

Unofficial exam paper for AS Level Psychology Research Methods, 3rd set [24 marks]

This is the 3rd set of unofficial exam papers for the Research Methods Section of AS Level Psychology. I have made a short video to help guide students on how to read the stimulus and make ‘clues’ which will help them answer the questions in the exam paper. There is a stimulus (the same stimulus as the 4th set unofficial exam paper) and questions (24 marks) for students to answer. Because it’s AS level I have only put 24 marks worth of questions. I am currently making unofficial exam papers for A level that have 48 marks. This paper tests: Experimental Design Sampling technique Hypothesis (directional/non-directional) Hypothesis writing Extraenous Variables Random Allocation Percentage Increase calculation Interpeting descriptive statistics Implications to the economy There is a mark scheme for ease of marking, and/or peer marking. As in the real AQA exam, students should be given 30 minutes to complete the paper. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch either on this website, or via twitter: @blonde_preztel.

I have written a set of unofficial exam papers for the Research Methods section of the exams. This is the first set. I have made a YouTube video explaining how to find ‘clues’ in the stimulus. It might be an idea for students to try the paper first, then watch the video to see if they would need to make any changes. The stimulus for this one is set in prison, (it’s also the stimulus for the 2nd set). There are 24 marks as per the real exam and students should be allocated 30 minutes to complete it. The comprehensive mark scheme allows for easy marking and peer marking. This paper test: Experimental Method Experimental Design Control Measure - counterbalancing Ethics - Deception and Informed Consent Dealing with ethical issues % Decrease Interpreting a table of results Sign Test Value of N and Calculated value of S Significance Implications to the economy I usually use narrow margins, so if the formatting is out, then change the margins to narrow. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with me on this website, or on twitter @blonde_pretzel or YouTube: Psychology Students Thanks very much for looking at my resource.

The stimulus for this one a correlational study investigating the relationship between age and the accuracy of eye-witness testimony. This is the same stimulus as the 7th set, but with different questions. There are 24 marks as per the real exam and students should be allocated 30 minutes to complete it. This paper tests: Direction of hypotheses Hypothesis writing Strength & Limitation of a Volunteer Sample Ethical issues Dealing with ethical issues Controlling for investigator bias Mathematical symbol > (greater than) Identification of direction of correlation from a table of results Calculation of the range The purpose of peer review The limitation of peer review I usually use narrow margins, so if the formatting is out, then change the margins to narrow. The PowerPoint and handouts accompany a teaching and a revision video on YouTube (search Psychology Students for my channel.) The PowerPoint contains everything for a full 16 mark question on the Psychodynamic Approach. The PowerPoint follows the structure for the essay. There are some YouTube videos embedded (see notes section for links, and/or hover over the pictures) to help understanding of the Psychodynamic Approach. It contains A01, A02 and A03 materials to cover everything for the exam and activities for students to do during class to help consolidation of learning. I reference all my handouts in the header which is why the handouts are labelled below: 04 - PowerPoint with activities embedded for a whole lesson (double lesson, about 2 hours 40 mins) 04a - PowerPoint Activity for students to consolidate learning 04b - PowerPoint of a memory story for easy recall of the 16 mark essay AP08 - a booklet for students to complete at home to help consolidation of learning AP12 - a short answer test (10 minutes recommended) for the start of the next lesson. AP12a - the answer sheet for the short answer test (best to get everyone to mark each other’s straight away to save time for the teacher.) NB I usually have my margins on ‘narrow’ for Word documents. I presume when you download them this will be automatic, but if the formatting seems a bit off, change the margins to narrow and it should be fine.
