This guide has been designed to help and support parents with children who are dyslexic or who show signs of dyslexia. It looks at the characteristic features of dyslexia: phonological awareness verbal memory verbal processing speed. It lists the common signs, and how it can affect their learning. You will find tips on how the child can be supported at home, and information on where to go for more support.

It is important to look after your wellbeing. Mental health can be seen as a continuum and recognising where you are on it and can give you some direction about actions to take to support yourself. This tool can help in the process of identifying if you need extra support. The continuum covers four key areas: Healthy Reacting Injured Ill The model gives examples of signs and symptoms for each area and what support you might need.
