This lesson introduces ideas about the nature of Allah and the Oneness of Allah (Tawhid). The pupils will have to define oneness and explain its relevance and application to the Islamic ideas of Allah. Analysis of scripture is included. Pupils will understand shirk and its severity in a modern society. There is an interactive plenary which has pupils review the content in the lesson and summarise it using pop culture. This lesson has the pupils engage with the understanding of David Hume’s view on miracles. Pupils must become sceptics and can analyse either a traditional miracle or a modern religious miracle. Pupils will look at the works of other philosophers and relate the views researched to their own personal views regarding miracles. The lesson offers different tasks depending on whether you wish to develop your pupils’ reading skills or analysis skills.
