I have attached a lesson focusing on Free Will and Fate in Romeo and Juliet along with a grad 5 and Grade 7 annotated response. Pupils fill in in the dual coding planning sheet and use this to revise. They then answer the exam question.

A worksheet looking at some of the techniques used in Act 2 Scene 2 of Romeo and Juliet. For a low ability class. I found that this worked great!

An introduction lesson to Scrooge that includes: Connotation Circles. Visual Hexagons. EDUQAS style exam style question. Opportunity for a class exam style paragraph for support. Self-Assessment Plenary with a WWW and EBI section. Extract included. This was used for a LA class but could be adapted for HA.

A lesson exploring Narrative Perspective In Morris Gleitzman's Once. Lesson include quote explosions. Used with a LA Year 8 Class

Two lessons that explore tension within Once. First lesson involves an extract that pupils have to identify any techniques used to create tension. Followed by a second lesson, plotting a tension graph.

This Scheme of work has 28 literature lessons that are fully resources and then another 14 language lessons that include looking at specific extracts and poetry. Every lesson starts with a ‘Do-Now’ activity based on KS2 SPAG for recall. Each lesson also has a slide for both lesson objecitves and outcomes as well as key words. I have included some frayer models within lessons and some low stake quizzes. The GAP lessons have very little as it depends on how pupils have preformed.

Lessons are fully resourced looking at a variety of extracts from the Mystery Genre. This should build student up to writing an effective story opening. Includes 9 PPTs

Pages 57-65. Looking at how fear is presented within the chapter. Pupils had to use a thesaurus to identify other synonyms for fear. Used with LA Year 8 class.

A fully resourced lesson exploring the theme of Gender in An Inspector Calls. Pupils will examine Mr Birling, Eric Birling and Gerald Croft considering authorial intent. Key quotes are given for each character inside a visual hexagon, but they can be removed for higher sets. Pupils will then explore a model response and will create a plan (dual coded) to answer the following exam style question: How does Priestley explore ideas about gender in An Inspector Calls?

Component Two of the new English Eduqas syllabus with resources.

This lesson was graded as a 'good' lesson with the promise to be 'outstanding'. There are differentiated resources for pupils to access to help with their understanding of how tension is created in texts. All resources are attached.

Graded outstanding. Additional crime scene was used as a visual stimulus. Pupils had to observe the crime scene to use as inspiration to write their own article. Support materials were used such as 5W's cups. Roll-it recap, starter and CSI sheet included. The pupils' LOVED this lesson!

This SOW has activities based around the reading of the play.
