GCSE History, 2016. Useful for the 2016 unit Superpower Relations and the Cold War. Students take on the role of either the CIA or the KGB and analyse the Long and Novikov telegrams. There is also an importance question and some example answers for students to look at.

Worksheet that summarises the three Indian Wars. Students have to complete the gap filling exercise which is seperated into three stages to get the students thinking about the narrative question. Students first create a timeline using the statements to develop a context of the significance of different voyages. Students then complete a colour coding activity looking at why there was such a growth in voyages and explorations. Students then learn about Drake's circumnavigation by reading the information sheet and by completing the note taking sheet. The lesson finishes with a 20 question quiz to test students knowledge of Drake's circumnavigation. There is also a knowledge matrix included so students can self assess their knowledge as they progress through the course.

Is your school asking for descriptors for each of the new GCSE grades? I have written a descriptor for each 9-1 GCSE History grade in table format on Microsoft Word. I have identified six criteria for each GCSE History grade: 1. extended writing, 2. using sources, 3. interpretations, 4 own knowledge, 5. reliability, 6. specialist terminology. I have written a descriptor for each criteria/grade which I believe shows clear progression. Unfortunately it is over three pages and will not fit on one page.
