Lesson begins with a who am I? focused on explorers learned about in previous lessons. Students then look at the significance of Raleigh and make notes about him. Students then read an information sheet on the 1585 and 1587 voyages to Virginia and complete a comparison table. Students then complete a diamond nine on why the attempted colonization failed. There is a plenary quiz where students have to guess which expedition the quiz relates to. There is also a knowledge matrix included so students can self assess their knowledge as they progress through the course.

Students then read the magic bullets worksheet and use the newspaper report template to write a newspaper report on magic bullets. There are also extension questions included. The lesson ends with a magic bullets quiz. There is also a student knowledge matrix included so students can self assess their way through the course as they progress.
