Periodic Table Research Task

Periodic Table Research Task

(0)
Students research the periodic table using laptops (or information sheets) and fill in their sheet, then produce a leaflet on the periodic table and atomic structure. You can easily change the ‘demonstrate’ task at the bottom of the sheet or add another question. Created with OCR 21st Century Science Topic C2 (Chemical Patterns) in mind but would work for other specifications or could be easily adapted. (The preview is cropped but the actual document has borders!)
Electrolysis Bundle

Electrolysis Bundle

3 Resources
Includes a worksheet on how to predict the products of electrolysis, a worksheet on how to write half-equations, and a summary sheet for C6 (AQA) - this could easily be used or adapted for other exam boards.

Predicting Products of Electrolysis (of Solutions)- Worksheet and Powerpoint Lesson

(0)
Lesson powerpoint and worksheet I created on how to predict the products of electrolysis of (aqueous) solutions. This was created for a low-mid ability Y10 group for AQA separate science GCSE, but is transferrable to all GCSE specifications that cover electrolysis. The challenge questions involve writing half-equations, which is a skill tested in the higher-tier exams, but you could choose a different challenge question if your group will be doing the foundation paper. I have added an additional worksheet where students identify the product left in solution, if applicable. You could also remove the lead bromide worked examples, or add more challenging compounds such as copper sulfate or sulfuric acid. This lesson was created using the TEEP cycle framework, as this is what my school uses (hence the TEEP indicators in the top left of each slide), but you can remove these if you want to. Please comment and review to let me know what you think!

Electrolysis (C6) Revision Summary Sheet/Mat

(0)
Revision summary sheet/mat for Electrolysis - created with AQA GCSE Chemistry C6 topic in mind. Including Electrolysis Equipment, Changes at the Electrodes, Predicting Products of Aqueous Solutions, Extraction of Aluminium and Electrolysis of Brine.
Predator Prey Cycles Worksheet & Resources

Predator Prey Cycles Worksheet & Resources

(0)
Activity on predatory-prey cycles. Students can be given either the scaffolded worksheet or just the graph for them to describe and explain independently. Includes a food web/producers and consumers recap starter. Used with Activate 1 Interdependence and Plant Reproduction with a Y7 group.
C5 Chemical Changes Revision Summary Sheet/Mat

C5 Chemical Changes Revision Summary Sheet/Mat

(0)
Revision mat/summary sheet for C5 Chemical Changes (AQA). Includes questions on reactivity series, metals & acids, extraction of metals, acids & bases, salts (& naming salts), acids & alkalis, neutralisation, dissociation, pH, and strong and weak acids.
Cells Revision Summary Sheet/Research Task

Cells Revision Summary Sheet/Research Task

(0)
Summary sheet created for the end of a Y7 unit on Cells, but could work as a refresher for up to GCSE level. Students could complete this from memory, using laptops/textbooks, or as a homework task. Differentiated with 1 more structured/scaffolded sheet and 1 more open-ended. Also includes a slide with suggested answers for students to self-mark and correct.
Organelle 'Guess Who' Worksheet
DaraWettonDaraWetton

Organelle 'Guess Who' Worksheet

(1)
'Guess Who' worksheet for Y7 lesson on plant and animal cells. Students identify the organelle from a description of its function. Based on AQA Activate - B1, Cells - 1.2, Plant and Animal Cells (p16 of Activate 1 textbook). You could also ask students to identify which type of cell the organelle is present in, and offer an extension task to write a paragraph explaining the differences between plant and animal cell structure. Feel free to edit to suit your learning objectives and share!
Covalent Bonding Dot-Cross Diagrams

Covalent Bonding Dot-Cross Diagrams

(0)
This activity includes an information sheet which shows students how to complete dot-cross diagrams, and lots of examples to practice with. I made this to go with a revision video I made (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV2KxBxmOKA) and have since used it as an independent learning task with students working remotely. They can use the video for guidance as many of the practice question examples are worked through during the video. Note that 2 of the examples on the back (sulfur and methane) are not on the video as I didn’t want it to be too long, however I thought it was important to include them as they may come up in exams. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Particularly if you are remote working and can let me know how your students found it. :) Typo in the preview corrected in actual file :)

Earth Early Atmosphere Storyboard, Cloze, Exam-Style Questions

(0)
Selection of activities for teaching about the earth’s early atmosphere and how it changed, including a storyboard with answers, cloze activity with answers, and 2 exam-style questions (short questions or a 6-mark) with suggested mark schemes. Covers 4.9.1.2 of AQA GCSE Chemistry (the earth’s early atmosphere).
Calculating Efficiency - Worksheet with Differentiated Graded Questions & Answer Sheet

Calculating Efficiency - Worksheet with Differentiated Graded Questions & Answer Sheet

(0)
Worksheet questions on calculating efficiency of an appliance. Questions are graded and increase in difficulty (no rearranging/converting, converting units, rearranging equations and converting units, 2-step processes). An answer sheet is included for self-marking/correction. Used with mid-ability Y10 for P2 - Sustainable Energy on OCR 21st Century, but works with most specifications. Some questions at the end combine the power equation with the efficiency equation.
Immune Response Storyboard

Immune Response Storyboard

(0)
Storyboard for students to draw and annotate diagrams showing the process of immune response - role of phagocytes/macrophages and B cells.
Digestive System Assembly Activity/Challenge

Digestive System Assembly Activity/Challenge

(1)
I laminated and cut out the images/names/functions of different organs of the digestive system then asked students to assemble a whole digestive system with correct labels. I used this as a competition by splitting students into 2 teams, with the winners being the first to assemble all the images and labels correctly. I created this according to the AQA Trilogy GCSE specification but you could edit it to use keywords from other specifications e.g. duodenum. You could also use it with AQA Activate 2 (year 8).
