At the time of writing, there are very few SAMs for the 2016 A Level Component 3 Section C paper. I have looked at the SAMs available and past questions - and used a bit of judgement - to create some example questions for my learners. These examples refer to Lysistrata with Brecht as the practitioner, but can be amended to suit your needs. There's no guarantee that these are right, but if they are prepared for these (which cover most bases), I hopeful they will be able to answer any questions for this section that come up. We recently moved to UAL and I delivered this assignment brief to Level 3 learners. You can use it if you are with BTEC too, just criteria will need adapting. It's a great assignment that will definitely test you patience but one that develops high levels of independence in learners.

I've pulled together the resources I use each year to prepare my learners for the UCAS application form and personal statement writing. My resources have a university and drama school flavour, but can be easily adapted to suit the needs of any subject area. There are two presentations, an information/workbook, worksheets and links to useful videos and websites included.

Introductory PowerPoint with activity, to introduce learners to this core BTEC Level 3 unit. There is about 4/5 lessons of introductory work here but easily adapted to suit your needs. A theoretical starting point.

This is something I use when I am working on a play with learners and I don't have the luxury of a Production Arts course to help. Each learner takes a performance role but also fills a production role. I have identified some of they key production roles and have written a job description for each. These job descriptions include the tasks each role would expect in industry, but adapted slightly to allow for the educational setting. I usually put learners into working groups for each role: great for situated learning. Please do use and adapt to suit your needs. Great for BTEC, UAL, enrichment and for some aspects of GCSE/A-Level.

I teach in a further education college. Each year I write a general handbook of expectations for new learners across all courses. I distribute this at enrolment so that they are aware of expectations before their induction week. Here's my handbook for 2017-18. It's in Word format, so feel free to add to it etc. It might stimulate some ideas / save you some time. I have - for obvious reasons - removed any references to my place of work. I have used this assignment brief for UAL Level 3 Diploma Performing and Production Arts Unit: Developing Performance and Production Skills. It involves the staging of an abridged version of Romeo and Juliet, but can be adapted to accommodate any Shakespeare play, or indeed any play for this qualification. It can also be adapted for BTEC delivery.

A logbook to support learning for Component 1 on the new AS Drama and Theatre programme (Edexcel). Please note, this is for Component one of the AS. This workbook focuses on the play Love and Information and Brecht as practitioner, but can be easily adapted for any text or practitioner.

PowerPoint presentation with research activities/links included. The presentation introduces learners to the different types of audiences, getting them to think about where performance might happen outside of traditional settings. Designed to support UAL Level 3 Unit 2, but can be used / easily adapted for all levels including KS3/4/5, BTEC.

This has literally been my saviour. Good at design, yes, but a bit of a tech-phobe. I should have listened more in technical theatre classes at university! This PowerPoint I created, with help from a friend who is an industry professional, is a dummy's guide (no offence) to theatre lighting and is really helpful for learners on GCSE, A Level, BTEC and UAL courses. Hope you find this no frills, straight forward resource helpful.

A collection of materials in a workbook to support learning towards the online exam. I used this as a revision booklet and learners achieved well. I have lots of resources for this unit, which I will add to this as a bundle at some point. This resource can be easily altered to suit your needs.

Hand outs and activity to help learners understand language devices used by playwrights. Includes a task sheet for paired presentations and for writing a scene, using what they have learned through an exploration of devices. Can be easily adapted / amended to meet the needs of the text you are exploring. It can also be differentiated / simplified for GCSE. Could also be used/adapted for A Level English.

Introductory PowerPoint aimed helping A Level Drama and Theatre students to understand the historical context of Buchner's Woyzeck and how they might stage the play in their own contextualisation. A Useful starting point (buy my 'Theatre Design' bundle for further exploration). Can be easily adapted to suit your needs.
