Zip File Contains: Slideshow with Where is the love video and chorus lyrics. (this is a keynote file for mac and a powerpoint for PC) Guitar sheet containing easy, medium, hard chords. easy piano sheet - root notes medium piano sheet - root and 3rd hard piano sheet - full triads bass guitar sheet I teach this over a 6 week half term or a 12 week term. Whole class lesson with singing warm ups etc then singing the chorus lyrics, add in body percussion, beatboxing etc whatever suits you. I do whole class lessons on piano/guitar with students rotating between instruments. I do this for 2/3 weeks. Students then write their own lyrics for the verse. We discuss how this is a protest song about 9/11 and come to the conclusion the chorus lyrics are universal. Students write their own protest lyrics about a current world issue and combine it with the chorus. Get into small groups/bands and put together a performance of your original/WITL? mashup.

(this is a keynote file for mac and a powerpoint for PC) Students to learn about the birth of rock n roll through teacher led discussion.... the birth of the teenager! Move over adults, young persons world, etc etc! KS3 love this discussion/knowledge of pop culture history! REBELLION! this is ground zero for all the pop music we listen to today! etc! I have yet to teach this SOW to a class who were not enthusiastic about it. How can you not tap your foot to rock n roll? All sheets contain 12 bar blues pattern. Beatboxing keynote slide show (mac users only) with integrated video. I use this at KS3 to introduce beatboxing, it's very popular. As long as you have a practice first you will be better than your students! Be confident in leading! Slideshow contains - intro video of Shlomo on Jools Holland - what is beatboxing trying to imitate? - the names of the drums - back to basics - shlomo video of the 3 main beatboxing sounds. teacher should pause the video after the introduction of each new sound, recap on what has been said and practice with the class.

Ever wanted to have your whole class playing the drums at the same time!?! You might not have 25 drum kits! But you have 25+ chairs! Use your feet on the floor for the bass drum. Chair to your right with the back facing you = hi hat Chair infront = snare drum I do this with Y7/8/9 and they love it! Easy to show progression with volunteers at the beginning who have never played a beat in their life and volunteers at the end after a lessons worth of practice! This is loud but a fab lesson if you have a class that you can trust.
