Creating Adverts

A PowerPoint from the ‘Advertising Scheme of work’ that could work as a stand alone lesson. I have used this as a double lesson but it could easily be stretched out over a longer period of time depending on your timetable. Students are asked to create their own version of one of the adverts as well as trying to re-make the advert as closely as possible. Gets students to think about the creative process and understand the advertising unit for the Eduqas GCSE Media Studies.

A revision guide detailing different methods students can use for revision. The examples used are specific for the WJEC 2018 exam however this can be easily adapted to suit other exam boards or subjects. It prints out very nicely as an A5 booklet.

Magazines - Takeaway homework

My take on the ‘takeaway’ homework that many of you are already using. I’ve adapted this so that it suits the Eduqas GCSE specification. Please note that I have no claim to the idea of ‘takeaway homework’ but I have created all of the tasks to work with the Magazine unit of this specification. There are several creative tasks in there as i’ve designed this unit so that it coincides with the release of the Controlled Assessment tasks as our school are likely to go for the magazine option and this would be excellent prep for students.

Component 1 Section A - Advertising

A PowerPoint from the ‘Advertising Scheme of work’ that could work as a stand alone lesson. This introduces students to the questions that are similar to those in Component 1 Section A. I have used this as a guided assessment where students work together to create a full example assessment that they can use later in their study.

Linked to the creative lesson for advertising this is a structure sheet to help students write an evaluation. This feeds of the old style evaluation for the WJEC specifcation but is useful for developing English skills and justifying ideas in exams.
