The lesson focuses on the international connections students have around the world. It has innovative activities that relate to artefacts and introducing social media to Geography. The lesson is as follows:
Settler: Identify the pictures whether they are local, national or international.
Starter: Look at the 8 objects located around the room and make a judgement with your partner to what country they are located originally from. Students have to locate the object and where it is from on their world map. This activity includes ANSWERS.
Homework: Complete the worksheet using either an Atlas at home or Google/school planner.
Subscribe to the Geography YouTube channel and Blog.
Main: Using your knowledge and world map complete the World Map template from the starter to include 5 of your international connections.
Challenge: For 1 connection write how and why you are connected to that place.
Development: Filming for YouTube, on the map below teach the class about an international connection you have and why. Tell the class whether it is local, national or international.
Challenge: How does this show a connected world?
Plenary: Photo chase images around the world to locate them on a local, national or international scale and what connection they are.
