This resource was used with my Year 2 class for them to describe the effects of their own magical medicine. I've included a loose plan so that the worksheets make more sense. The worksheet has been differentiated three ways. Thanks for looking! Please have a peak at my other items for sale in my TES shop :) https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/HanMade

Instruction Writing to make a Card or Paper Box (DT links)

This lesson requires the children to put photographs in order of the instructions, and then write the instruction that they think goes with the picture together as a class. The children make the box based on the pictures and then write their own instructions based on what they have made. As a plenary, the class can textmark the features from an example given. Sound - Measuring pitch and making instruments

Two worksheets for Year 4 Science lessons on Sound. The first is after children had made their own junk model instruments (mostly tissue box guitars and yoghurt pot rice shakers). The second is for much further along in the unit on pitch and frequency, and what different animals can hear. Thanks for looking! Non-Chronological Report Writing Dressed for the Weather

Non-Chronological Report Writing Dressed for the Weather

(0)
I used this lesson for a Year 3 class on non-chronological report writing. The children used subheadings for their paragraphs on contrasting weather environments and what would be appropriate to wear in each. This lesson worked really well because they did not need to do any further research before writing, which meant that we could focus on the features of a non-chronological report. Thanks for looking! Predict the next shape in a pattern- trains theme

This is a lesson for Early Years predicting the next shape in a pattern, it could also be useful for a lower ability Year 1 class or for introducing a new topic. The children have to spot the next shape to appear in the pattern and show which shape they think will come next. Thanks for looking! Place Value (Hundreds Tens and Ones)

Using the acronym 'Hold Them Open' for Hundreds, Tens and Ones, this powerpoint encourages the children (using their fingers) to count the number of hundreds, tens and ones in each three digit number as the slides partition the numbers. Silly Storytelling Game for Storytelling Week

Silly Storytelling Game for Storytelling Week

(0)
This is the classic storytelling game of fill-in-the-blanks, fold it down and pass it on. I have included some instructions in case it is unfamiliar to you. I think it would be most appropriate for Y1-4, but my Year 4s found it hilarious. Thanks for looking! Children think about whether they would rather wear uniform or their home clothes to school in this lesson. After thinking of reasons for each side of the argument the Powerpoint guides the children through writing a discussion text on the subject. Planning using objectives from the Year 4 English Curriculum included. Thanks for looking! Mothers Day Assembly: Mums Making History

Mothers Day Assembly: Mums Making History

(0)
This was a class assembly performed by 5 children (When we performed it, 1 and 2 were confident girls, 3 was a girl with speech difficulties and 4 and 5 were boys) about Mums that have made history. The children researched Anna Jarvis, Marie Curie, Emmeline Pankhurst, Jessica Ennis, Tanni Grey-Thompson and JK Rowling for their homework and I wrote this assembly piece to show the rest of the school what we had been learning about. Problem Solving Maths Day

Problem Solving Maths Day

(0)
This activity was used for a Key Stage 2 Problem Solving day. The clues were printed and laminated and hidden all over the school. The children had to find the clues, answer the question (in mixed year group teams) and use their answers to work out the letters (the answer is 'If you can solve this you can have one housepoint each'). Some of the questions are quite difficult to challenge the Year 6s. Thanks for looking! Advent Calendar with Bible Verses 2017

Advent Calendar with Bible Verses 2017

Each school day of December before the Christmas holidays, click on the date and read the next part of the Christmas story from the Bible. I used this at the beginning of every day in December (in a Christian school) and we discussed the meaning of the verses. There are no numbers for the weekend dates, only the school dates. Not all verses are from the same book of the Bible but are in the correct order for the story! Thanks for looking! Using penguin's flippers and crab's pincers, this powerpoint takes children through their times tables. I used this with a Year 3 class, but is easily adaptable. Tudors: Make Me a Monarch! (Persuasive Writing)

(0)
This lesson requires the pupils to fill in an application form to become a Tudor Monarch. The planning and task-setting powerpoint are included, and give examples of interests and skills of the monarchs, as well as a few instruments and sports of the time. I taught this lesson to a mixed 3/4 class during History, but after they had already looked at persuasive writing. This isn't essential, but there are a list of logical connectives for the more able children to use. Thanks for looking! Comparison between Aslan and Jesus at Easter

(3)
After reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, the children highlighted statements they thought were true about the deaths and resurrections of Aslan and Jesus. This led to an excellent discussion about what they knew about the Easter story. Also included is an answer sheet. Thanks for looking! Charlotte's Web Planning

Charlotte's Web Planning

(5)
This is a 12-lesson unit plan of Charlotte's Web (including two lessons to watch and discuss the film) that I used with a mixed Y3/4 class. The children loved reading this story and we made woollen pom-pom spiders for our display board. The unit ends with the children writing their own friendship rescue story. I think this unit would be most suited to Years 2-4. Thanks for looking! Please have a peak at my other items for sale in my TES shop :) https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/HanMade

A task-setting powerpoint to guide the children through writing persuasive letters to Theseus as either the King of Athens or Princess Ariadne. I used this with a mixed 3/4 class and the letters featured were written by some of the more able students. Includes features of a persuasive text and the planning with objectives from the 2014 Year 4 English Curriculum. Thanks for looking! Easter Bunny Persuasive Letter Writing Lesson

Easter Bunny Persuasive Letter Writing Lesson

(0)
I did this as one whole lesson but it could be spread out as needed. The file includes a letter from the Easter bunny stating that he is going to retire. Next to it is a writing frame for the children to analyse, looking especially at the purpose of each paragraph. On the next page (I printed them double sided) is a shared plan and letter in response. On the final page is a new letter from the 'Bunny Bandit' who has captured the Easter Bunny and the children must write their persuasive letters independently in response. Thanks for looking!
