I am obsessed with having anchor charts hanging in my classroom! I love the way they look and I also love how much they help the students throughout the year! One problem though..I am not an artist. Make ANOTHER COPY, this will be the one you share with your students. 4. Use the SHARE button in the top right corner (blue button) to get the shareable link to send to your students. 5. Whole Class Journals

Whole Class Journals

Have you ever done whole class journals? If not, let me tell you...they are awesome! What are Whole Class Journals? Whole Class Journals are journals (or composition notebooks) you keep in your classroom for all of the students to use. The students can grab them any time they have extra free time and write in the journals or read what other students have written. In my classroom, I like to do Whole Class Journals for major skills such as Letter Writing, Persuasive Writing, Poetry, Procedural Writing, Narrative Writing, and Expository (or Informational) Writing. Provided are 180 writing prompts for 6 different writing areas in this product. The cool thing about these though...they are perfectly aligned to be printed on Avery 18163 Labels (or any 2 in by 4 in labels.) You can print and have 180 stickers to use on your journals (see pictures in the preview.) I have also included a cover for your journal, an instruction page for the students (glue this on the first page of the journal), and a back cover where the students can write their name after they finish a prompt. The students love these journals because the entire class can take ownership for the writings! The students also love to read other writings from the students in their class. The following journals are included: Letter Writing Persuasive Writing Procedural Writing Poetry Writing Narrative Writing Expository PRINTING: There are MANY different types of printers out there. There is no way of me being able to match the labels with every printer. For example, my printer may be aligned different than your printer. These have been saved in PowerPoint as JPEGS so the whole page of labels will stay together and not be moved (this ensures the labels will print correctly.) However, please print a test page (on regular paper) and hold it up to the light in front of the labels. IF they do not line up perfectly, you can move the entire set of labels up or down to meet the needs of your printer. If you have any issues, please e-mail me at Hillary3986@gmail.com so I can help you solve the problem. :)

Emergency Sub Plans (Literacy Grades 3-5)

Emergency Sub Plans (Literacy Grades 3-5)

Emergency Sub Plans! (Literacy Grades 3-5) Have you even been in a pickle and had to call in sick at the last minute? I have known teachers that will have to go to the school sick just to write sub plans and go back home! Do not do this to yourself! These are DONE! 10 days of Literacy Sub Plans, ready to print, stack, and leave! (Check out the preview to see more!) Here is how they work! Each day of sub plans includes the following items…and there are 10 days of these sub plans! Morning Work- A 20-30 minute activity to get the kids working, brain warming up, and allowing the sub a moment to breathe and figure things out. A Fiction or Non-Fiction Passage- A reading passage that is good for grades 3rd-5th. 3rd Graders might need guidance on it, depending on the time of year and their individual level, 4th graders will be able to read it independently but might need assistance on a few words, and 5th graders will be completely independent but still learning from these passages. **NEW UPDATE (2/06/16)** Multiple Choice Comprehension Questions and Open Ended Critical Thinking Questions have been added for EACH of the 10 passages! A Reading Response- this response goes with the reading passage and the students will fill in the items on the response about the passage they are reading or have read. Grade Suggestions for Passages and Responses: 3rd Grade: Teacher (Sub) read the passage aloud first to the students, then students can fill in response. 4th Grade: Students read the passage in partners and fill in the response either independently or with their partner. 5th Grade: Students read the passage independently, and fill in the response independently. Word Work Page: 8 challenging vocabulary words with a spot for the definition from the dictionary and a place for the students to use the words in a sentence. Writing Prompt-A writing prompt with a teacher letter attached explaining what he or she wants the students to do with this writing prompt. It includes questions, thoughts, and guides the students through the writing. Fast Finisher Task Card- This task card has 6 activities for the students to do when they are finished. The students just rolls a die and the number picks the activity they will complete. (I always make sure I have a student that knows where my dice are in case I do get sick and they need to help the sub find these.)

Character Feelings Word Chart

Character Feelings Word Chart

Many times students have trouble coming up with words to describe how a character feels or acts in the story. They may say "good" or "bad" and some just say "happy" or "sad." We want the students using more complex and detailed words to describe characters in stories. This page can be glued in their journals or just placed in a folder for them to use time and time again to help with their writing and the characters in the books they read. Also assists with spelling difficult feeling words!
