Basic circuits and series and parallel introduction

(0)
This is for pupils looking at circuits around year 7. It is suitable for KS3 and ISEB common entrance. It reviews/introduces basic circuit symbols and then has different circuits to make to compare the brightness of bulbs. A great way to get the pupils making their circuits accurately. They are then asked to find out about series and parallel circuits and classify the circuits in the experiment into these two groups. After that there are a couple of questions about the advantages of parallel circuits over series circuits.

This is a pupil pack for moments at a ks3 or common entrance levels. It covers what moments are, how they are useful to us and how we can calculate balance in moment situations. It includes 2 experiments as well the theoretical work. There is also a PDF version Thoughts, suggestions, comments? email hoppersphysics@sky.com

Pressure pupils work packfor common entrance and KS3

(0)
This is a pack that covers pressure and includes examples of things made to have a high and a low pressure, experiments into the pressure made by a rectangular block and by a pupil in different positions, sitting, standing and on the floor. Also includes graduated differentiation questions allowing the pupils to find their own level of challenge. We are afraid you have to provide your own lab equipment! (and pupils.....) There is also a user guide for you to get the most out of your pack. This is a publisher file so editable and a PDF version. Thoughts, comments or suggestions to hoppersphysics@sky.com

Life cycles and habitats revision test

Testing pupils on a wide array of questions this is in two parts the first covering Life cycles, the second Habitats. The 7 characteristics of life, the life cycle of a flowering plant and a frog are covered, along with questions on pollination. In the second section pupils describe habitats, suggest habitats for different animal, use a key, a food web and draw a bar chart. Takes between 40 minutes and an hour.

Hoppers Physics graph pack 1: Bar chart drawing investigations

(0)
This pack contains 6 different bar graph drawing activities and some other activities with questions on graphs. Suitable for around year 3 they will work on counting different shapes (the shapes to work with are provided) different coloured shapes as well measuring width, volume (of liquids) and mass (although you can just provide numbers for them to use. They will also work on giving graphs a heading and axes labels. Perfect for cover, to do after an experiment or other task. Full instructions on the first page.

Hoppers Physics Graph pack bundle

3 Resources
Containing the three graph packs we have on sale on tes resources. You save a pound over the list price! Covers bar charts, line graphs and different scales. There are little activities included on measuring and maths. Pleas see the separate packs for a full description.
Hoppers Physics graph pack 2: Line graph work

Hoppers Physics graph pack 2: Line graph work

(0)
This is an introduction to drawing line graph. All the resources required are included apart from graph paper, which you need for 4 of the tasks. There are 2 bar charts as well as 4 line graphs and other questions on reading a line graph and plotting points. We use these with year 4, KS2 . There is another pack on bar charts and a third on using different scales available on tes resources. Very useful for cover, after experiments or other tasks or when the whole day has gone to pot and you need an easy but constructive lesson. Perimeter calculations and measurement also included. Full instructions included!

Hoppers Physics Graph pack 3: using different scales

(0)
This graph pack works with the other two, also available on tes resources to teach the pupils how to use different scales. It starts with a simple bar graph, does an easy line graph and then works 7 more graph tasks with different scales. Helpful questions get the pupils to think about how to represent their data and there are some questions at the end to work through related to the graphs drawn previously. Excellent for cover, this stand alone pack needs no equipment. Also useful after other tasks in lessons, or when you just need an easy lesson at the end of a hard day. We use this with year 5 but would work well on both sides of this.

Light: Sending messages by light.

(0)
Useful for a lesson on different ways we send messages by light, in how we see things or a more general light topic this work sheet provides cross curricular links to maths and history and possibly fundamental British values as well as talking about broadband which means you can spring off into many different routes. The main challenge is for the pupils to independently make a code to send a message in pairs or groups as fast as possible. Often results in some great photos for sticking in workbooks, twitter feeds etc. Make the pupils do the work and get maximum science exposure! Useful for KS 3 and Common entrance GCSE, middle school and older depending on how you work the connections to other topics and subjects.
Gravity: Weight and mass home work
