Stop Asking and Start Telling: How To Get Kids To Do What They Are Told To Do With a Good Attitude

STOP asking and Start Telling. If you want students to comply you have to stop giving choices and tell students exactly what you want them to do. Choices are something we all want and should be offered at times, but when there is a specific behavior you that you want your students to exhibit allowing choice only promotes confusion on the part of the students and frustration for the teacher. Compliance before choice is something that all students should understand. Students can’t say and do what they want when they want to do it. This 13 page guide provides instructions on how to do it with illustrations from the authors life and provides the language that will empower the teacher and create a positive school climate.

After the horrific events in Parkland Florida I am encouraging everyone to download this FREE resource that explains why we have to take a tougher stance when disciplining children and stop soft peddling when it comes down to consequences. Political correctness needs to be looked at closely in relationship to students and adults who because of their digital footprint have proven that they are a danger to society.

When a system beats you over the head with the club of political correctness that system has muzzled it's members and in reality has bullied them. Speak your mind and use conflicts productively and take the time to see both sides of a disagreement. But, don't be muzzled.

Is The Behavior Conduct Or Clinical?

(0)
Teachers will respond or react to a student who exhibits verbal or physical conduct problems. I mean, that’s our job right? But what about the kid whose head is down on his desk, the kid who is just so quiet that you wonder what is going on behind those eyes, the kid who is disaffected but really is not a behavior problem at all? Often we can be so concerned about the outward conduct of our students that the disaffected kid can get lost in the sauce. This kid needs our help.

Character Education Flash Cards

(0)
These cards are designed to provide students with an opportunity to learn some unique character qualities that are essential for lifelong success. There are 16 cards that can be shown to the students. The teacher has the answer key which he/she uses to determine if the student gave the right definition for the quality. The opposite of the quality is also provided so that the student can get an idea of what the quality does and does not mean. These cards are an excellent way of assuring that students have a clear understanding of the qualities that are associated with success and what will contribute to their own maturity and personal growth. Memorizing is a great way for students to begin to ingrain this information into their life. Once they have an understanding what each quality means it will become easier to live out the quality. Brain Bursts

I am introducing Brain Bursts. These 30-60 second activities help increase circulation, get the students moving, increase body awareness, and improve focus. They can be done with the students standing at their desks and require very little space. These activities mimic what young children love to do and that’s run. If you look at a child they run from place to place, not walk. They naturally engage their brain by sprinting short periods of time. Games like basketball, tag, baseball, and football are all sports that have the participants sprinting, rarely do you see a 7 or 8 year old doing long distance running. Great for all ages. Excellent for Grades K-8.
