Kodu Game Planning Sheet

Kodu Game Planning Sheet

A planning sheet that pupils can use to plan their own platform game in Kodu. I use with my Year 5 pupils. I find that the second sheet enables them to plan out their algorithms first, as it prompts them to think about what they want each bot or object to do before then requiring them to write down their predicted algorithm.

E-safety scenario cards

I tend to use these with a Kagan cooperative learning structure (usually 'Showdown' or 'Numbered Heads Together'). See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVvn7G792jI to see how the 'Showdown' structure works.

Pokemon Go resources (Computing)

I've uploaded the worksheets here to accompany my EYFS Computing unit, which involves pupils creating their own version of the game Pokemon Go using the free iPad app Aurasma. This is a completely FREE unit to try from my Project Live online Computing curriculum. If you are interested in trying out the unit for yourself, you can Access ALL related resources including app tutorial, detailed lesson sequence and assessment information here: http://www.jecomputing.co.uk/unit-5.html

Poster: How to be an independent learner (based on the 5 Bs strategy)

Poster: How to be an independent learner (based on the 5 Bs strategy)

A poster I've designed and use within my Computing lessons to discourage learnt helplessness within Computing. Based on the 5B's principle of 'Brain, Book, Browse, Buddies, Boss' and based on a number of other one's I've seen online. Works really well in my Computing lessons as an aid to encourage greater student independence within lessons. The idea is that when pupils are stuck they work there way through each of the strategies listed on the sheet.

iMovie Trailer Planning Sheets

iMovie Trailer Planning Sheets

The first resource will assist pupils in planning what text they will include in their iMovie trailer (using the iMovie iPad app) and prompt them to choose a specific template based on what the theme of their trailer will be. The second worksheet is a booklet containing all the iMovie trailer templates so that pupils can plan exactly what images/videos and text they will include throughout their trailer. Acknowledgement: Many thanks to Tony Vincent of http://learninginhand.com/ whose original idea I have adapted here.

I tend to use these as part of a Kagan structure such as 'Showdown' or 'Numbered Heads Together'. Here is a video showing how the 'Showdown' structure works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jdTtnWMLVM The idea is that pupils take it in turns to turn over a card, write down their solution and the celebrate/coach depending on what the desired response should be.

Appshed Design Template

Appshed Design Template

Wanted to design a template to help year 6 with planning the design of their first mobile app before making it in Appshed, so came up with this design booklet for pupils to use during the initial planning stage. Thought this might be useful to others looking to do something similar.
