Year 7 Art & Design Scheme of Work based on African cultures and masks. The lesson objectives learnt in this are listed below:  Develop the ability to select ideas from their imagination to produce designs for their masks.  Develop their knowledge of, and ability to use several different drawing media.  Develop their understanding of the different qualities that different media possess.  Develop an understanding of the techniques of sgraffito and frottage.  Develop their ability to produce tonal variation through use of layered mark making.  Learn to present their ideas in 2 and 3-dimensional form.  Develop the ability to manipulate 3D media and refine their use of pencil crayon.  Develop the ability to make reasoned judgements about work before adapting and refining ideas to allow them to produce a more successful outcome.  To use a view finder effectively to produce a good standard outcome.  Associate colour with emotions.  Demonstrate creative design skills and appropriate annotations.  Investigate and research appropriately and effectively.  Develop knowledge and understanding of cultural art.  Develop an understanding of both the historical and present-day purposes of mask making in Africa.
