~Black History Month ~ Mini Unit ~ Famous African Americans~ With the time constraints placed on teachers today, this mini unit was created to give teachers little to no prep time. Easy to understand and use! We hope your students enjoy learning about these African Americans that made a difference in the world in which we live. The Black History Month Mini Unit is composed of: 5 informational passages that are written in the 3-5 grade level range * comprehension questions page for each passage * Venn diagram to compare and contrast the figures * summary pages for each individual + blank summary page * informational passages for Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, and Booker T. Washington * timeline template to record events for each person * interactive notebook pages * take home booklet (similar to the interactive notebook) - in case you don’t do interactive notebooks :)

This is a CCSS aligned readers theater for K or 1st. Although it is made for K and 1st, below level 2nd graders could also benefit from using this readers theater. The readers theater is Rebus, meaning that instead of some words, there are picture clues. Students will also be using sight words. This readers theater will help students also work on their fluency. This includes two of versions of retelling pages, a comprehension page, and a page of create-a-puppets. The comprehension page is 5 questions and is a standardized format that can be used as a formative assessment. This is a classic tale that will be enjoyable for students to use in a drama center as well as in a small group read aloud.

This is a set of Brag Tags for the Lexia program that students learn with online. As students achieve their goals of gaining levels, celebrate them with this award as incentive to continue reaching their goals. All 18 levels or destinations are included, as well as a bonus sheet of GOAL!! cards. Simply print on cardstock, laminate and pass out. Students can collect the cards or even punch a hole and wear them on a chain. Students enjoy 'leveling up with Lexia' and now you can get them even more excited about it!

This St. Patrick's Day informational text bundle includes 5 passages. Text topics are leprechauns, St. Patrick, Irish Wolfhounds, Shamrocks & Clovers and Irish Potato Famine. Advanced students in 3rd grade, 4th and 5th grades, and struggling 6th graders would enjoy these high interest texts. When buying the bundle, you'll get five passages for the price of 4!! I often find that many times older students get 'left out' when it comes to holiday texts written at their level. That's why I created this set of passages. They are texts that students will enjoy and give the students the opportunity to learn about some Irish symbols or things that remind us of Ireland - all at their level! These are super for the week before St. Patrick's Day. The text-dependent questions will make sure students go back in the text to find the answers. This is perfect practice this time of year, before testing season starts!
