Discover Circles Theorems in Autograph (inc Distance Learning option)

(0)
This lesson is designed so that pupils can independently discover the circle theorems in Autograph. This can be downloaded for free at : https://completemaths.com/autograph Pupils will need to save some Autograph files locally and use them to work through a booklet to help them make connections. There are 4 files that they will need to work through in Autograph to discover: Angles in the Same Segment Cyclic Quadrilaterals Angles in a Semi Circle Angles at the Centre They then can test themselves and worksheets with answers are provided. There is also an extension option whereby pupils use Autograph to create their own circles and tangents in order to make connections with the remaining 2 circle theorems. I used this for my observation lesson with a bottom set year 10 and it worked really well. They were able to **SEE **when angles and the property. It made an otherwise dull topic very visual. This could also be adapted for distance learning whereby you ask the pupils to download Autograph in advance. If that is not possible, you as the teacher can work through the Autograph files via Zoom/Google Meets and have a discussion about what is going on. Pupils can then fill in their observations in the booklet.

KS2 Perimiter & Area incl. Compound Rectangular Shapes

This lesson is suitable for a high ability yr 5/6 or a low ability year 7/8 set. Lots of white board questions (with answers). Also has lots of discussion points so that pupils can really appreciated what perimeter and area are. All examples are based on rectangular shapes. The last few slides have more complex examples which require finding the sides given the area/perimeter.

Simultaneous Equations by Elimination (Lesson)

A full lesson that I used for my NQT observation. Has a starter (with music) to get the students into the mode of solving equations. Main is a card sort where they ‘discover’ how to solve simulatneous eqations themselves. There is a flow chart that you can print that allows pupils to get ‘de-stuck’ Differentated worksheet Plenary with ‘spot the mistake’ I used this for a high ability year 8 class but would work well for a GCSE class too.

A worked example for combining 2 sets of data to work out their combined mean and the root mean square deviation. The first page has blanks for students to fill in and can be used as a self teaching worksheet. The second page has the answers.
