A week of work based on the short film "Replay" from the Literacy shed. I used this with my Year 6 class for a unit on Flashback narrative writing. A great introduction to flashback story writing. A scenario where they are late to school and they must write a flashback narrative about why they were late. Used for a Year 6 lesson on Flashback narrative writing. Includes modelled writing to balance speech, action and description to advance action.

A unit of work based on the film Paddington by Heyday films. It includes grammar activities such as how to use inverted commas and how to use passive and active voice. The unit also includes modelled writing of a newspaper report alongside differentiated newspaper planning sheets. There is also a lesson on writing a review of the film. I used this with a Year 6 class as part of a two week unit on film using Paddington as a stimulus. It has excellent cross-curricular links to PSHE and Citizenship; lots of opportunity to discuss similarities between Paddington and refugees.

A bundle for a half term topic on Flashback narrative writing that I have used with a Year 6 class. A cross curricular lesson on Non-chronological report writing and sugar (Science and healthy eating) aimed at a year 6 class. Includes spoof assessments on how to use parenthesis (dashes, commas etc) and other Year 6 punctuation. Correct answers are hidden underneath coloured blocks.

A notebook with an example of a long division problem. There are also step by step instructions for solving missing box division problems and answering reasoning questions for division. There are spot the mistake questions and ‘explain the error’ questions for children to solve. There are also some division word problems that require children to think about whether they should round up or down in their answer.

A cross curricular English, Science and PSHE lesson for KS2. Includes a notebook file with an introduction, information and video links about sugar. The notebook file is for a whole lesson or could be split into two lessons - one for facts on sugar and one for writing a non chronological report. There is a slide with a spoof assessment for grammar and punctuation needed for Year 6 and correct answers hidden below to support children with their writing.

A stand alone hour lesson on adding three digit decimal numbers. Can be differentiated to 1 or 2 digit decimal numbers also. I used this with Year 6 children. The resource includes a starter activity and an adding decimals warm up activity (with correct answers hidden behind coloured blocks). There is then a model of how to record their results and a paired activity for the main teaching.

A notebook with questions from and also similar to those on the May 2017 Maths SATS tests for Year 6. I used this with my class as part of a gap analysis week. It includes arithmetic questions and the answers (which are covered initially) Plus some of the questions from the reasoning papers with answers and step by step guides or visuals to support.
