Full resource for teaching Topic 3.3 “America” for Edexcel A Level Paper 3 Britain: Losing and Gaining an Empire. Optimised to support blended/flipped learning. Lesson powerpoints (including handy teaching notes/tips in the notes for most slides) ‘Prep tasks’ to aid flipped learning - available as PDF or Word Doc. Based on the Pearson textbook but can be easily adapted if you use something else. Apologies if the formatting on the PDF is a bit funny! Tasks organised into note-taking (blue) versus exam skills (green) and additional activities (purple). Revision powerpoint for wrapping up the topic Note that powerpoints and prep are designed to be used together (the powerpoints don’t cover all info!). Lesson 1: Lecture and essay skills/group tasks (may suit a double period or split in half) Lesson 2: Lecture Lesson 3: Lecture and essay skills/group tasks (may suit a double period or split in half) Lesson 4: Lecture Most powerpoint slides have been optimised for teaching online, having been used to deliver online A Level lessons for the past 3 years with 100% of students gaining A*-C. Powerpoints include tasks that have been adapted from a face-to-face classroom to suit online/blended learning. This includes things like: Shared screen group annotation activities Small group tasks (for example in Zoom ‘breakout rooms’) ‘Toe the line’ - how far do you agree with a statement? Place your name on the line and then discuss with the class Timelines/diagrams that students can print/screenshot and annotate during sessions
