Alternative Fairytales Character Hot Seating
This session was used a way to develop understanding of character and alternative fairytale conventions. Hot seating enables children to ask questions to the characters of Red Riding Hood and then complete the thought bubble worksheets to highlight the key facts they have learnt.

Growth Mindset Display Elements

Talking Tokens
This resource is great for building classroom discussion and communication skills. I use talking tickets when we are debating a topic or sharing opinions in class to help my pupils to share opinions fairly ensuring everyone has the chance to speak. The talking token can be used for whole class discussions, group discussions or partner work.

Teacher Mail
These are a great little positive reinforcement technique to use in the classroom or over email for home learning. There are 3 different message options and you add your own reason for praise for the children. I leave these in the children’s trays at the start of the day or after lunchtime with a house point for each teacher mail.

Writing Expectation Bookmarks
Bookmarks for children to use in their English books to remind them of their good writing non-negotiables. These would be appropriate for early writers and any child who would benefit from visual reminders of good handwriting.

Classroom Noise Level Chart
This resource can be used in classrooms to help children understand the expected noise levels for each working type. Silent ninja mode is for independent silent work, Secret Agent Mode is for partner work and Team mode is for group working.
I generally have an action to go with each of these, i.e. we count down from 3 and enter ‘Secret Agent Mode’ with an action of putting on our secret agent glasses.
