Kennings- Year 4 Poetry Planning

Kennings- Year 4 Poetry Planning

A weeks worth of planning and resources for kennings. This weeks plan involves immersing children into poetry by getting them to identify the features of a kenning and to create their own by the end of the week. To make it more interesting, I have included a research day for children to collect facts for their kenning about one of Africa's top 5 animals. (lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant and rhino). At the end of the week when they are writing their kenning, they will write it on a background of their chosen animal. I have included powerpoint presentations also. These lessons also touch on alliteration. The kennings produced at the end of the week are beautiful and colourful also, they make a great display! Playscripts Year 4

Playscripts Year 4

These playscripts allow children to create their own play while learning the features of the play-script also. I have attached fairy tales that are turned into playscripts. The features that they will learn how to use are: *Cast list * Scene Headings * Character name and : * Stage Directions The first lesson allows children to create their own list of the features of a playscript by finding them themselves. This exploratory, paired learning works best when it comes to the end product at the end of the week. Children are encouraged to choose a fairytale that they already know to alter slightly, to make the actual story part easier. There is a SPAG lesson included also on adverbs. This will help children to use them for the stage directions also.

Cinderella Class Assembly- KS2

Cinderella Class Assembly- KS2

My class assembly that I did today as we have been studying fairy tales for the last 2 weeks. Cinderella can seem a bit babyish for Year 4 students, however we made it a funny version and the audience were in tears laughing. This script is funny, modern and is easily adaptable. I made one of the stepsisters a boy (wears the wig etc) and the audience loved it. My prince was also a girl and she as fantastic, put on the deep voice and all. Included is: The script (which is easy to follow and has stage directions included) The layout in which I sat the children The downloads of the music I used An invitation to give to the parents. Both the children and the parents adored the assembly. A personal highlight of mine is that the children sing working 9-5 by Dolly Parton- amazing.

KS2 Comprehension and Differentiated Activities

KS2 Comprehension and Differentiated Activities

This comprehension is based on Qatar as a country and the processes they've put in place in order to host the World Cup 2022. It provides children with an interesting background knowledge of the country while testing their comprehension skills simultaneously. I have attached comprehension questions/activities for a lower ability, middle ability and higher ability learner, all in the same document. It worked well for the abilities in my own class, however it can be adapted to suit the needs of your class too. I have saved it as a word document and a PDF.

Angles- Year 4/5- OBSERVATION

**OBSERVATION LESSON** A co-worker of mine asked would I plan a lesson observation with them on angles. A few years ago, I taught a similar lesson for an observation. Basically, this resource contains: A clear, detailed and differentiated lesson plan A simple but colourful powerpoint to use as a guideline 3 activities differentiated into high, middle and low Angle creators with arrows (just print, laminate and secure with a split pin). This lesson aims to engage a variety of learners. By using the angle creator, visual and kinesthetic learners can practically make the different types of angles that are being taught in this lesson. (Acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle, straight line angle) HA are extended by asking children to label the angles found in 2D shapes and how to measure them by using a protractor. The plenary asks children to spot angles in the clock face. A really enjoyable lesson. Please review.

Mental Maths Support Booklet- Year 3

Mental Maths Support Booklet- Year 3

***A 20 PAGE MENTAL MATHS SUPPORT BOOKLET*** This is a booklet I created to support a year 3 child with their mental maths. I am a private tutor and a class teacher so I like to have 'go to' booklets and resources to use for my tutoring sessions. Similes and Metaphors: OBSERVATION

Similes and Metaphors: OBSERVATION

Graded: Outstanding This is a lesson that I did for an observation today with the English coordinator. It's a lesson on Tanka poetry. Children learned what a Tanka was the day before, but today they needed to create a bank of similes, metaphors and adjectives to enhance their descriptions that they will use in their poem later in the week. I have differentiated this activity, by providing scaffolding support for the SEN/EAL children in my class. The lesson, as a whole, was intended to be a mixed ability lesson. However, as it was an observation, I needed to include some form of extra support/ scaffolding for some children. This lesson is linked to the Vikings and children need to describe what it would be like to leave their lovely homeland with the beautiful scenery. The resource includes: *a clear, detailed lesson plan, *picture to annotate *powerpoint to explain the meaning of a Tanka (if needed prior to the lesson) *basic flipchart for referall as a class *simile and metaphor sort *simile and metaphor sort (EAL/SEN).

Pronouns

Pronouns

This resource is made with a Harry Potter theme. Children are introduced to the term pronouns through a short Harry Potter clip where they can hear how badly pronouns are needed in spoken language as well as written. I have made differentiated work resources for the children to use for low ability, middle ability and high abililty- all still based on the Harry Potter Theme. Children are encouraged to work in groups throughout this lesson to try and practice using pronouns on whiteboards, before their activity. Using a Harry Potter theme worked well in my class as it fun, colourful and different from their normal SPAG lessons, which can sometimes be boring. I have included a powerpoint, worsheets and a detailed plan with this package.

Ancient Greece Bundle

Ancient Greece Bundle

This bundle is a combination of Week 1 Topic work on Ancient Greece, alongside playscripts based on Ancient Greek Myths (Literacy) and a week of Explanation Texts based on the Ancient Greeks too. The Literacy planning includes a week's worth of planning and differentiated resources along with an interactive notebook to support the lesson. The Ancient Greece Topic lesson, introduces children to Ancient Greece and provide them with the background knowledge for their Literacy lesson. Both have been taught by myself with my Year 5 class, who LOVED learning about the Ancient Greeks. I bundled them together for anyone (like me), who will teach them on the same/consecutive weeks.
