TES PICKS

#### History timeline for display - easily adapted

Goes from the dinosaurs through key periods of history to the present day. Use MS Word to adapt it.
I have added the Stone, Bronze, Iron and Middle Ages to the updated version. As well as the first public railway in 1825, England winning the World Cup in 1966 and the 2012 Olympics.

#### Graphs, charts, pictograms, data maths trail - good for Y4, 5 and 6

8 different graphs and charts, with 3 questions on each.
The first question requires children to read the data on a marked division.
The second question requires children to read the data between the marked divisions.
The 3rd question requires children to answer either a sum, difference or comparison question.
I used this as a maths trail in KS2 and the children loved it! It also highlighted which types of graphs/charts and questions the children needed more support on, which provided the focus for the next stage of learning.

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: to solve comparison, sum and difference problems from line graphs

An assessment of the Year 5 maths objective:
- To solve comparison, sum and difference problems using information presented in a line graph
(Easily editable in Word)

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: decimal problems, rounding, comparing numbers with up to 3 decimal places

An assessment used to assess these Y5 maths objectives:
• Solve problems involving numbers up to three decimal places
• Read, write, order and compare numbers with up to three decimal places
• Round decimals with two decimal places to the nearest whole number and to one decimal place
Uses Formula 1 lap times as a context!
(Easily adaptable in Word)

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: numbers to 1,000,000, counting, rounding, problem solving and negative no's

An assessment of these Year 5 maths objectives:
• I can read, write, order and compare numbers to at least 1,000,000 and determine the value of each digit
• I can count forwards and backwards in steps of powers of 10 for any given number up to 1,000,000
• I can round any number up to 1,000,000 to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 and 100,000
• I can solve problems and practical problems that involve all of the above
• I can interpret negative numbers in context, count forwards and backwards with positive and negative whole numbers through zero

#### Translations: Translating shapes across 4 quadrants - progressive activity, using coordinates

Children can plot their own quadrants in their books or have a copy of the one on the sheet.
They start by plotting their 4 shapes (one into each quadrant), using the coordinates given.
Then they translate the shapes either by one instruction or by two.
Finally they can write the coordinates of the new shape.

#### Math - answering questions from 2 different line graphs

An assessment of the math objective:
- To solve comparison, sum and difference problems using information presented in a line graph
(Easily editable in Word)

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: addition, subtraction, rounding, problem solving

• Add and subtract whole numbers with more than 4 digits, including using formal written methods (columnar addition and subtraction)
• Add and subtract numbers mentally with increasingly large numbers
• Use rounding to check answers to calculations and determine, in the context of a problem, levels of accuracy
• I can solve addition and subtraction multi-step problems in contexts, deciding which operations to use and why

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: Read, Write, Order, Compare to 1,000,000

A simple assessment based on football attendances for the Y5 maths objective: read, write, order and compare numbers to 1,000,000

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: recognise %, recognise thousandths and read decimals as fractions

A straightforward assessment for these Year 5 objectives:
• Recognize and use thousandths and relate them to tenths, hundredths and decimal equivalents
• Recognize the per cent symbol (%) and understand that per cent relates to ‘number of parts per hundred’, and write percentages as a fraction with denominator 100, and as a decimal
• Read and write decimal numbers as fractions [for example, 0.71 = 71/100]

#### Year 5 Maths Assessment: Read Roman Numerals to 1000

A simple assessment of the Year 5 maths objective:
- To read Roman numerals to 1000 (M) and recognise years written in Roman numerals
(Easily editable in Word)

#### Year 5 Math Assessment: angles on a wonky house

- know angles are measured in degrees: estimate and compare acute, obtuse and reflex angles, - draw given angles, and measure them in degrees ('), - identify angles at a point and one whole turn (total 360'), - identify angles at a point on a straight line and ½ a turn (total 180'), - identify other multiples of 90'
