AQA Nea 2 guidance - Here’s what you will recieve, as follows: AQA NEA 2 booklet - colourful, clear for students to follow showing all of the sub headings required and content needed to achieve top grades. I have had lots of teachers download this to date - very popular! PPT- the booklet provided supports the narration of the PPT. Throughout the PPT there are prompts for students/teacher to refer to the guidance booklet. • Reference to all of the subheadings required for the written portfolio - e.g. intro, plan of action, research write up etc… • An exam brief provided. Reference to possible research avenues, dish trialling, reason for choice reasonings. • Clear to follow - colourful, to the point. • Task to help students to create a time plan…hint - with the use of recipes and highlighters! • Reference to what the exam board will be assessing students on - student speak. Further student speak mark scheme requirements for each section is also clearly written in the booklet. - no excuses for students not to know it and understand!! Controlled conditions door sign -for teachers to print and place on their door to warn other students when passing by. Excel spread sheet- coursework and mock calculator. Exam guidance - • What to expect in the exam • Introducing command words - lists the command words found in the food exams- anything from identify to discuss and provides clear definitions. • Example food questions (for section B) and answers focusing on 3 different command words. Once the teacher has shown the model answer, they then have the opportunity to refer to the mark scheme (already included in PPT) for that specific answer. If they then “right click” the answer will appear, but this time highlighting the specific content which meets the mark scheme. • Revision techniques I have also included the example questions as a separate handout which you can provide to your students. You could allow them the time to answer the questions prior to showing them with the mark scheme and model answers. Perfect task for students to complete and to learn how to answer the questions prior to starting revision, passed papers and moving onto the question booklet. Please note that this PPT took many hours to make so is full of helpful information for your students. It has been designed for students to access the content with ease - highlighted information, use of animation, subject specific questions and model answers. Booklet: • Includes food exam questions (from section B) using different command words/variety of marks…including long answer questions. Guides students on highlighting the command word, identifying the important information and jotting down a plan prior to answering the question. (Space has been provided by the question to do this) • mark scheme provided • Prompts students to re-write any questions to show improvement. Space has been dedicated to this. Students can then refer back to these as model answers. Demonstrating cooking ability sheet This A3 resource (could be reduced to a4) clearly presents the cooking ability levels to students for the AQA Food, Preparation and Nutrition exam/demonstrating cooking skills. The colour coded system helps students to identify their cooking level and to reach their potential. There is also 2 examples showing how students can enhance their abilities. The examples are: Making a cake (sweet item) Cooking with chicken (Savoury) The information is from a reliable source (referenced with the website)from the AQA exam board - can’t ask for better than that when it comes to reliable content. 22 Page Theory, Practical and Assessment Tracker Booklet – Are you a teacher of GCSE food? This resource is for you. Whether your teaching year 9, 10 or 11 you will find the huge benefit of this detailed 22 page progress tracker/revision list. The booket is 22 pages long - a whopper! (Loads of time saved on your part!) And is divided into categories covering all of the food topics studies throughout a student’s GCSE - theory, practical and assessments. Each table has clear descriptors providing examples where necessary to aid student’s understand. Students are encouraged to highlight the topics throughout their studies/revision period and date them. (Written annotations are optional) The tables are also divided into columns of 3. These are named- ‘Beginner, Developer and Master’. The definition of each is displayed on page 2 for the students and teacher to refer to. This is a fantastic book for the students and teacher to monitor progress…especially where OFSTED and observations are concerned. Not only this, but they can be used when talking to parents at parents evening, when setting student’s targets, throughout report writing and updating your intervention logs. What a fantastic way for observers to come and see how progress is made. You as a teacher can simply flick through student’s booklet and identify the areas student/students need to work on; whether this is a topic as a class, group or individually. The colour coded boxes are super easy to identify areas needing more or less focus. Alternatively, if you have a year 11 class, give this to them at the start of the revision season…get them to use this booklet as a revision checklist - SIMPLE!
