This was created by me to use for a workshop for parents. it can be used for demonstrating the different calculation strategies which has a strong emphasis on in the new curriculum. the parents enjoyed having the opportunity to try out themselves the strategies we teach so they can help their children with homework. Can be adapted to suit.

There is a selection of habitat resources suitable for key stage 2 1. The Habitat Oscars - Class Assembly 2. Habitat fractions - making models using multilink cubes e.g. make an animal using 12 cubes 1/3 must be red etc differentiated challenges - using and applying maths lesson 3. Images of various habitats 4. Design your own animal for a particular habitat brief

An exciting lesson (one I was observed doing) including a little tension, receiving a letter from a museum professor with a task of designing different sized enclosures for a variety of Stone Age animals. The children loved it and talked about it at the end of the years, as being one of their favourite lessons! There are differentiated worksheets ( chilli challenges - mild, hot and spicy) and extensions. Plenty for everyone and cross curricular too! Using and Applying Maths

Finding fractions of amounts using Harry Potter potions. Children find out the fractions needed for each quantity. Can create their own potions as an extension. A fun way to practise finding fractions of amounts and cross curricular too. Can be done with year 5/6
