Revision Tips

Revision Tips

Created to help my GCSE classes revision smarter not harder. Includes advice on the type of mindset students need to have in order to revise effectively and attempts to be generally motivating. Encourages the idea that excellence is habit and a target is not something to MEET but something to BEAT. Similar to PBs in sports. Focus on using the growth mindset of not being able to do it YET. Includes sports star references and anecdotes from famous people such as JK Rowling and Muhammad Ali as well as Thomas Edison. Promotes the idea of a Personal Best culture and a community culture - helping others and constantly trying to better yourself. You are the one to beat, not Joe Bloggs 3 seats down. Introduces the Pit of Understanding theory. Motivational quotes and the Octopus Learner Theory (what makes an effective learner). Goes on to discuss strategies to combat "stuckness" and asks students to consider what they need to do better. Finally includes a huge number of generic revision activities that can be applied to any subject or topic.
