Teacher Timesavers

As a Head of Faculty, I appreciate that preparation time is precious for all teachers, and producing quality resources can be time-consuming. I’ve developed a range of techniques and resources to teach aspects of the OCR GCSE English Literature and English Language courses.

Operation STORMBREAKER - Group Activity

This is a 1 hour lesson for a drama-based activity on STORMBREAKER. It comprises of Teacher's Notes, a Briefing Pack and all supporting materials. The teacher needs to play the role of an Army Officer - I did it in full uniform! The aim was to replicate how Alex Rider felt at the Army camp, and experience the importance of working as a part of a small team.\nNB - to crack the code, the students need to look at a letter and use the one BEFORE it in the alphabet. ie code letter B = A in the alphabet. I hope you enjoy using it - the students talked about it for weeks afterwards.

This is the final assessment task for our Year 8 Novel & Narrative Writing module on Antony Horowitz's STORMBREAKER. I wanted to encourage creativity, with the students writing a short Chapter 1 for a sequel. We had some superb responses!
