This resource is an attempt to make IGCSE matrices more meaningful and deliberate practice more fun. Students will learn how to use matrices to find area of the triangle given its coordinates, solve simultaneous equations and use Hill Cypher to practise multiplying matrices. Click the grey rectangles to reveal the answers (as seen on drfrost ppts).
I am lucky to teach very able students. However, they get frustrated when have to do ‘easy’ past papers. The resource is a collection of challenging exam questions from different exam boards (including Edexcel AEA) with MS at the end of the document.
10 different sets of worksheets covering most of the CIE AS Level Maths. I use them for revision to identify students’ misconceptions. Most qs are taken from past exam papers, textbooks. Set 0 is for the days when you want to have even more fun in your lessons. Let me know if you spot any mistakes.
10/04 I’ve corrected q6 in set 10.
Revison qs for P1, AS level maths, CIE. In the document questions go in the correct order, so do not forget to mix them up before giving to students.
You can use these cards for pair work: print 6 cards per page, cut, mix and ask students to order.
The template was borrowed from MathedUp.
The worksheet is a drilling exercise to encourage students to write a work-energy equation first and avoid calculating and rounding anything of too early. Full solutions are at the end of the document.
My able students often do not show sufficient working as they do tasks/explanations/reasoning ‘mentally’. To help them understand how much and what kind of working they need to show I’ve put together this document, ‘Common Command words in Maths CIE exams’ ,with explanations and examples for AS students. I use ‘AS show that qs’ to check if my students understand what exam questions require. You can easily adapt this resource to suit any exam board.
This is a revision lesson (80 min) for AS Maths, CIE. PPP is a collection of activities I like to include in my lessons: mindmap, Risp, True/false questions from MEI, drfrost ‘trigger’ boxes and exam questions. More revision questions could be found in the attached worksheet, the last question was taken from the madasmaths website.
