Experienced Science teacher and Head of Department specialising predominantly in Physics at GCSE and A-level. My resources are designed as complete and ready-to-go lessons for any science teacher but are particularly suited to NQTs or those who are not 100% confident at the material yet as explanations and activities are very clearly described and answers provided wherever possible. At KS4 and KS5, lessons prepare students for their exams by incorporating exam application throughout.

AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 8 - Ohm's law

(0)
In lesson 8 of the electricity unit students learn about Ohm’s law by discovering the law through experiment. As well as developing their practical skills, there are questions for them to practice using the equations, both on the slides and on a separate worksheet. All lesson power points have a slide with clearly defined lesson objectives at the start. Updated 20/05/18 with additional method.

AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 7 - Required practical 15: Resistance and wire length

(0)
In lesson 7 of the electricity unit students investigate the relationship between a length of constantan wire and its resistance. The lesson includes pre- and post-experiment tasks and example results are included in the powerpoint in case the experiment doesn’t go as planned! There is also guidance on what a good graph looks like. All lesson power points have a slide with clearly defined lesson objectives at the start. AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 5 - Power

(0)
In lesson 5 of the electricity unit students learn about the relationship between electrical power, current and voltage. The lesson comes with two worksheets, one recapping current and voltage in series and parallel and the other on power, current and voltage. All answers are on the slides. There is also a slide for a practical activity to calculate the power of an electric motor through measurign the current and voltage. All lesson power points have a slide with clearly defined lesson objectives at the start.
AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 4 - Potential difference

AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 4 - Potential difference

(0)
In lesson 4 of the electricity unit students discover the rules for potential difference in both series and parallel circuits while developing their practical skills. They then complete a worksheet to consolidate their understanding of both current and potential difference rules in series and parallel circuits. Answers are included in the slides. All lesson power points have a slide with clearly defined lesson objectives at the start.
AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 3 - Charge

AQA New GCSE Electricity - Lesson 3 - Charge

(0)
In lesson 3 of the electricity unit students look at the relationship between charge, current and time and complete practice calculations. Example questions are included in the slides and there is also a worksheet. All lesson power points have a slide with clearly defined lesson objectives at the start.

Year 7 Metals - 7 lesson bundle

7 Resources
This bundle contains all 7 lessons with their accompanying resources for the metals topic at KS3. The lessons are: L1 - Metals ores and their uses; L2 - Reactivity series of metlas; L3 - Extraction of metals; L4 - Displacemet reactions of metals; L5 - Alloys and corrosion; L6 - Reacting metals with oxygen; L7 - Testing for metal ions.
Year 7 Metals lesson 7 - Testing for metal ions
QuasiEntropistQuasiEntropist

Year 7 Metals lesson 7 - Testing for metal ions

(0)
Lesson 7 in the year 7 metals topic looking at testing samples to identify metal ions. Students complete flame tests and precipitate tests to identify different metal ion samples. they also learn and discuss applications of these reactions e.g. fireworks.
Year 7 Metals lesson 6 - Reacting metals with oxygen and Yield
QuasiEntropistQuasiEntropist

Year 7 Metals lesson 6 - Reacting metals with oxygen and Yield

(1)
Lesson 6 in the year 7 metals topic looking at reacting metals with oxygen. Students complete a practical where they burn magnesium in air and compare the mass of the magnesium before burning to the mass of magnesium oxide after the reaction. Students write a word equation for the reaction and use this to explain why the mass of the magnesium has increased after the burning.
Year 7 Metals lesson 5 - Alloys and corrosion
QuasiEntropistQuasiEntropist

Year 7 Metals lesson 5 - Alloys and corrosion

(1)
Lesson 5 in the year 7 metals topic looking at alloys and corrosion. Students learn about alloys, their properties compared to pure metals and conditions for corrosion. They set up a longer term practical using nails in test tubes to test for the ideal conditions for iron nails to rust. This can be left and monitored over several weeks.
Year 7 Metals lesson 4 - Displacement reactions
QuasiEntropistQuasiEntropist

Year 7 Metals lesson 4 - Displacement reactions

(2)
Lesson 4 in the year 7 metals topic looking at displacement reactions of metals. After learning about what a displacement reaction is, students complete a practical and use their observations to determine the order of reactivity of their sample metals. Students also learn about the applications of displacement reactions e.g. sacrificial metals on oil rigs.
Year 7 Metals lesson 2 - Reactivity series of metals
QuasiEntropistQuasiEntropist

Year 7 Metals lesson 2 - Reactivity series of metals

(1)
Lesson 2 in the year 7 metals topic looking at the reactivity series of metals. Students learn about the reactivity of group 1, 2 and transition metals. Students complete a practical observing different metal reactions and determine, based on their observations, the order of reactivity of their sample metals.

New AQA AS Physics Unit 5 Electricity - all lesson powerpoints and required practical support

6 Resources
All my A-level lessons are detailed and tailored to guide students (and teachers) through the new AQA Physics A-level specification (and are referenced accordingly). Each has outlined at the start a clear progression through the topic and the relevant section from the specification. Each lesson contains a starter activity to develop problem-solving skills before students progress with new theory and practice. All powerpoints have practice questions with answers at the end. Practical activities feature throughout as this is key to students' understanding and appreciation of the subject. The high level of detail in these lessons will particularly suit those who are newer to teaching physics at A-level or whose subject knowledge may be a little rusty.
