My name is Kathy. I am a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher in Massachusetts. In seventh grade, my students study Ancient Civilizations while eighth graders are learning about US History. In addition to teaching, I am a wife, the mother of two teenage boys who keep my husband and I very busy. In my spare time (Ha Ha, what spare time?) I enjoy reading, writing, photography and crossword puzzles. I love to travel and want to do more someday!

This is a simple activity that spirals in complexity. The activity begins by simply asking students to identify and list what they see in the picture. Next it asks students to explain what is happening and then to create questions for discussions about the picture. This activity is a great way to introduce a topic, as a bell ringer or as a way to summarize a unit of study.

This activity is designed for students to demonstrate their knowledge on the The Constitutional Convention. It is a fun way to show their understanding. Using a picture students are asked to create speech and thought bubbles on a few of the people in the picture. Vocabulary is provided for students to use. A rubric is also available to assist in grading the assignment.
