Geometry Vocab Game

(1)
Articulate the Shape - Maths Vocab Reasoning Game Perfect for a ‘mastery’ teaching approach. This game aims is to boost students’ mathematical reasoning skills by enabling them to learn and use mathematical vocabulary in a fun way. Articulate the shape is a board game for up to 4 players. The winner is the player with the greatest number of points acquired after a pre-determined number of laps around the game board. The players take it in turn to roll the dice and move the required number of places. Each square indicates an ‘Articulate the Shape’ category: 2D Shapes; 3D Shapes; Mathematical vocabulary and Wildcard. Having selected a category the player must describe the mystery item so that their team mates can guess what it is. You must not say the mystery word itself! Points are awarded for the number of mathematical shapes or vocabulary correctly identified in 30 seconds. Differentiation: Challenge level may be set by the teacher by including ability appropriate cards only and omitting those deemed to be too advanced. Lower ability or younger students - print several copies of ability appropriate shapes and mathematical vocabulary or modify the PowerPoint template to add some cards some of your own!

Compound Interest Board Game

Compound Interest Board Game

(0)
Prime Property Compound Interest Game Game Play: Players compete against one another to amass the most wealth over a predetermined number of laps around the board. Whilst buying property is secure its value will not increase or decrease. Only cash balances will fluctuate due to compound interest. All players begin at the square labelled ‘Start’. Each player begins with $100 Each player will role the dice and move the required number of places around the board. Each square represents a percentage increase or decrease. The number of places moved represents the number of years of compound interest. Player 1 rolls the dice, moves their counter the required number of spaces and calculates a revised budget. Once your new budget has been calculated you can now ‘buy’ a property. On your next go you will repeat the process using the remaining cash balance calculated on your last turn as your starting value. Should you choose to sell your property to buy another you simply swap the cards, but remember to keep a note of your cash balance.
