Unit 4: Enquiries into current research. Practice 1: Health Research

Unit 4: Enquiries into current research. Practice 1: Health Research

This has taken me hours of planning, hence the price, but I assure you it is worth it! I have used a sample article from the revision guide and put together a 45 slide walk through, including proforma's. Session 1: Explain how students would be expected to split their time. Sharing of article, highlight 6 key areas to help structure future research. Students then create a set of notes based on their understanding of the article. Again split into the 6 key areas, answers are given to help students out. Session 2: Students decide lines of enquiry and 5 key areas of research to search for their two secondary sources. Session 3: I have given students one source, they must then create a SAMTAB of this source (I have created a SAMTAB to give students after they have attempted it.) Students search and create a SAMTAB for their second source. Session 4: Students will then create their 6 pages of notes based on their findings. I have then created an answer booklet for the part B of the controlled assessment, each section has been started for them. On the power point slides there is a suggestion of timings, structure and sentence starters. I plan to go through one question at a time, students attempt it, we self/peer assess it and then do some live writing to create a perfect answer. Mark scheme is included from the sample paper. I believe this power point and all of the work attached will take my group a half term. I won't be giving them as long as I will for the actual controlled assessment. But i estimate that we will work through this on 4 lessons per week, in about 5-6 weeks time. I will then use this exact template to create one for the social article. Once purchased you can adapt the framework to suit any article. Please leave feedback, this has probably taken me about 20 hours to plan and prepare!

1 year of Tutor Time Activities

1 year of Tutor Time Activities

A power point for each school week of the school year- that's 38 weeks! There is a thought of the week that prompts students to consider what the author means, and how they could implement it into their life/school life. This is followed by a "This week in history" slide. This aims to show students cross-curricular events from 9/11, to the creation of the X-ray, to royal weddings and World War II information. There is sometimes an additional slide based on events in the week e.g. Holocaust Memorial Day, The World Cup etc. It ticks every OFSTED box regarding SMSC/British Values but is also a useful tool to promote awareness about current issues with students. The week in history often provides my quiet group with conversation starters. We also show the thought of the week on the TV screens in our social areas. Please leave feedback if you purchase.

L3 Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research- Making recommendations and wider applications of research

L3 Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research- Making recommendations and wider applications of research

L4 in Learning Aim C for Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research. Students look at how to make recommendations: Improving outcomes for people using services Informing policy and practice Extending knowledge and understanding Identifying gaps in provision. They then apply this understanding by reading the Francis Report (2013) and splitting the recommendations under these headings. L5 looks at how they can look at wider implications of research. This is the final lesson in preparation, supported by a RAG checklist. Lessons that follow will be students using the sample material to practice. I will upload these with example responses once planned.

I have used a sample article from the revision guide and put together a power point slide walk through, including proforma's. This is not as detailed as practice 1, I am not providing students with information for their notes, nor am I providing them with 1 of the two secondary sources- simply because I plan to use this as mock before their real controlled assessment. If you want to find the health article practice please follow the link below- this resource has a lot of support and provides them with one of the secondary sources. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/unit-4-enquiries-into-current-research-practice-1-health-research-11759263 Session 1: Explain how students would be expected to split their time.
