Unit 4: Enquiries into current research. Practice 1: Health Research

Unit 4: Enquiries into current research. Practice 1: Health Research

This has taken me hours of planning, hence the price, but I assure you it is worth it! I have used a sample article from the revision guide and put together a 45 slide walk through, including proforma's. Session 1: Explain how students would be expected to split their time. Sharing of article, highlight 6 key areas to help structure future research. Students then create a set of notes based on their understanding of the article. Again split into the 6 key areas, answers are given to help students out. Session 2: Students decide lines of enquiry and 5 key areas of research to search for their two secondary sources. Session 3: I have given students one source, they must then create a SAMTAB of this source (I have created a SAMTAB to give students after they have attempted it.) Students search and create a SAMTAB for their second source. Session 4: Students will then create their 6 pages of notes based on their findings. I have then created an answer booklet for the part B of the controlled assessment, each section has been started for them. On the power point slides there is a suggestion of timings, structure and sentence starters. I plan to go through one question at a time, students attempt it, we self/peer assess it and then do some live writing to create a perfect answer. Mark scheme is included from the sample paper. I believe this power point and all of the work attached will take my group a half term. I won't be giving them as long as I will for the actual controlled assessment. But i estimate that we will work through this on 4 lessons per week, in about 5-6 weeks time. I will then use this exact template to create one for the social article. Once purchased you can adapt the framework to suit any article. Please leave feedback, this has probably taken me about 20 hours to plan and prepare!

Unit 4: Enquiries into current research. Practice 2: Social Research

I have used a sample article from the revision guide and put together a power point slide walk through, including proforma's. This is not as detailed as practice 1, I am not providing students with information for their notes, nor am I providing them with 1 of the two secondary sources- simply because I plan to use this as mock before their real controlled assessment. If you want to find the health article practice please follow the link below- this resource has a lot of support and provides them with one of the secondary sources. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/unit-4-enquiries-into-current-research-practice-1-health-research-11759263 Session 1: Explain how students would be expected to split their time. L3 Unit 2: Exam: Learning Aim B

L3 Unit 2: Exam: Learning Aim B

I have finally planned and created the lessons to meet Learning Aim B as my colleague isn't getting round to putting hers on, and I've had a few requests for it. There are 6 core lessons in this pack, however there are research tasks and a group presentation activity which I think will take an additional 4 lessons. I would estimate these lessons to take 10-12 lessons in total. Hopefully you will find them useful and complete the bundle for Unit 2 (I will add this resource to the bundle!) https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/l3-unit-2-exam-learning-aim-a-and-learning-aim-c-11716201

L3 Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research- Making recommendations and wider applications of research

L3 Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research- Making recommendations and wider applications of research

L4 in Learning Aim C for Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research. Students look at how to make recommendations: Improving outcomes for people using services Informing policy and practice Extending knowledge and understanding Identifying gaps in provision. They then apply this understanding by reading the Francis Report (2013) and splitting the recommendations under these headings. L5 looks at how they can look at wider implications of research. This is the final lesson in preparation, supported by a RAG checklist. Lessons that follow will be students using the sample material to practice. I will upload these with example responses once planned.

Exam Command Words Celebrations activity

Exam Command Words Celebrations activity

The idea of this activity is to teach students to recognise the different skills of command words in an exam or BTEC coursework unit. This is planned for health and social care but could be adapted for any subject. Teacher explains what the command words are (provides them with definitions), students then choose 2 celebrations/ heroes/ roses anything they can eat that isn't subject specific. Students then use their celebrations to answer questions e.g. Identify the main features of your celebrations, explain why they are your favourites, evaluate a tub of celebrations etc. Useful for before an assessment or as an introduction to exam content.

L3 Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research Learning Aim C

L3 Unit 4 Enquiries into Current Research Learning Aim C

5 lessons that helps students to plan and prepare Part A of the task. Students look at how to conduct a literature search, interpret data (looking at Qual/Quan bias), what is a reliable source- how to search for them and then assess them using SAMTAB format as recommended in the Pearson Revision book, and a final set of lessons looking at how to recommend further research and how this impacts on provision and services. The next set of resources I will plan will be students conducting notes/literature reviews and practising for Part A and Part B. These will be uploaded by November. The idea is students will practice in the run up to the release of the controlled assessment in March. Pleas leave feedback.
