Sight Word Walk Activity, 1st Grade Words

Search and Find Sight Word Walk Footprints are an active way to help children recognize the most frequently occurring words automatically. Great for learning centers, individual tutoring, homework practice, and homeschools. This set of 41 footprints includes the 41 first grade sight words in an easy to read font. A cute poster encourages students to walk to search for words. These can be used for many fun reinforcement activities. An assessment sheet is included. Print footprints, cut out, and laminate. They can be placed on the wall or bulletin board for a display. Place them on the floor and have the students take a walk to find words, saying the word as they step on it. This activity goes great with the Search and Find Sight Word Bookmarks. Both sets come in Pre-Primer, Primer, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade. Get them all in the Search for Sight Words Bundle. Additional Ideas: * Use the blank footprints to add custom words. * Children can try to create sentences to walk on. * Follow the sight words around the room. * Lay the footprints out with clues to a question for the children to find. * Provide magnifying glasses for binoculars for the children to use. * Lay the footprints on the floor and call out a sight word to the student to step on with their right foot, then left, then right. Can they step on the word without moving the other foot? * Create an obstacle course and use the footprints to guide the students around the objects. Students must read the words as they go. * Arrange the footprints in a circle. Play some music and when the music stops, students must read the word they stopped on.
