About
From my initial teaching of science and chemistry to A level at an 11 to 19 school in Oxfordshire in 1995, I progressed within 5 terms to be a subject leader in a middle school in Worcestershire, where I discovered my love of enquiry and working with younger children. The process of asking questions, wondering and finding the answers in many ways, is what enthuses me. Career development, after an LA re-organisation, led to a KS3 science consultancy post for Warwickshire in 2002, supporting schools to improve science, developing networks, embedding enquiry and Assessment for Learning. As the National Strategy becoming more secondary, this was not for me, and I grabbed a primary equivalent post in Wolverhampton in 2007 with both hands. Since then I have had the most rewarding part of my career: going freelance; becoming a PSQM Senior Regional Hub Leader; publishing two schemes of work, and New Teachers resource; alongside being the ASE's editor for Primary Science for 7 years.
