French Story – totally original for KS2 & KS3 pupils – ‘Ellie Noir Fait La Belle.

(0)
This is a totally original story for KS2 or KS3 pupils and is fully illustrated. ‘Ellie Noir Fait La Belle ’is a spin off of our English story ‘Ellie gets her just desserts.’ Our main character, Ellie, is a flighty character, who thinks that looking good is everything. By the end she learns that working toward a goal in a team is more important than vanity. Pupils will love our fun-filled characters (known as bodz) in our colourful land full of intrigue and adventure; know as The World of Whyse (Le Monde De Whyse). This original story is on the first PowerPoint and the English translation is on the notes section of each slide. There is also a teacher’s notes sheet with the story in French and English. The second PowerPoint is an accompanying resource pack with a wide range of activities. Some of the tasks are differentiated into Options A (easier) or B (more challenging) and there are two lengthy sets of worksheets to go with them. This latest linguistic approach through story telling immerses pupils into the language, which helps to learn words and phrases by amalgamating them with characters and illustration in our imaginary world. As every word and every phrase appears in context, pupils will pick up on the grammar without reflecting on the rules, just as they did when learning their mother tongue. Stories are a universal way of teaching pupils in their native language and are equally effective when learning a new one. There are huge advantages to using this method for language learning. It is motivational, builds confidence, and improves literacy skills. Furthermore all of our stories come with powerful moral messages and values and instil important lessons for learning. This is not only an important language-learning tool, but also covers areas of the wider curriculum such as PSHE, citizenship, ethics, assembly messages and mindfulness. Our third story from the World of Whyse shows children that by reflecting on wrong doing and learning from mistakes, we can all become better people and gain respect from one another. In this story the Lamb twins learn this the hard way but ultimately become better bodz in the end. This fun-filled story is not just about wrong doing but also highlights the importance of kindness and forgiveness. Once again, this story will not disappoint. The vibrancy of our visuals and the intrigue of our plot will further fuel the fascination of your pupils and their desire to explore the World of Whyse more. Although the story itself is a stand-alone resource, you can also cut planning time with our range of diverse, exciting resources (see our TES shop), which extend to wider areas of the curriculum.
