This pack is just a demonstration of how the real activities that I sell work.
A collection of activities that can be used as whole class, small group, individual activities or homework; designed to improve literacy and understanding of key words in each topic studied.
Loop Game / Follow Me Cards
The loop game card has a Question and an Answer on it. In this case the question is in the
form of a recipe for a cocktail. There is also an answer, the name of a different cocktail.
To operate the game you nominate a pupil to read the question on their card; the person
with the corresponding answer should read it (you need to verify this, all our activities come with a solution to make this straightforward).
On each sheet there are two words.
The game can be played a bit like dominoes, so one player lays a card. In order for the next
player to lay a card they have to say whet the link between the words is. If they are unable
to make link they miss their go and the next player takes a turn.
There are 30 cards, ach with a different key word and a selection of other words. One card
can be given to each pupil, or pupils can work in pairs. The pupils have to construct four
sentences. Each sentence should contain the key word AND one of the other words to show how the words are connected.
The purpose of the poetry card is to encourage pupils to think carefully and creatively about
the definitions of the vocabulary that is involved in a topic.
Pupils follow the instructions to create mini definition / revision poems for the vocabulary.
They can work in pairs or individually; illustrations can also add to the creativity.
This task can be used to engage pupils with creative skills that may not always be able to
express them in Science, great for producing a word display or revision board.
