Careers advice is notoriously difficult to fit into busy school schedules. And now with OFSTED requiring schools to offer impartial careers guidance, as well as directives from the Government to improve careers advice to young people, it's more important than ever to give pupils information that can help them decide on their routes into further education, apprenticeships and jobs.
This Teacher Resource Pack works in conjunction with the free online resource at www.careervooc.co.uk
There are 9 free Career VOOC®s (vocational open online courses) for pupils and teachers to watch so far, with more in development, covering IT, Active Leisure, Accountancy, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality, Retail, Construction, Social Care and Childcare.
Each VOOC® explains about the sector, allows students to take a self-assessment quiz to understand their skills and values, gives information on job roles in each sector detailing salary expectations, working conditions and day-to-day tasks, and shows next steps for each career path.
Students can self-register via the website and access VOOC®s in their free time, but the Teacher Resource Pack shows how this can be incorporated into lessons such as form time, PSHE and allocated careers advice time.
If you have a large amount of students such as a year group or multiple year groups, contact Virtual College for a Batch Upload Template and we can supply login details to you, enabling you to ensure students are ready to log in and start together when you are ready. email@example.com
