If you are struggling to carry out and engage your pupils in social skills training then this is evidence based therapy no prep pack of activities for social skills training could be for you!! We NEED to provide our students with therapy activities that will help them generalize the skills they learnt in the classroom or clinic room, to the actual world. Why is this product special? It is based on the EVIDENCE. Based on the evidence it is shown that group training is a great way to introduce social and emotional skills training, and so this therapy packet of sessions is perfect for group settings. It can also be adjusted for individual therapy sessions. This packet is unique because it provides the kids with ‘secret missions’ that are top secret (except for a trusted adult such as a parent). The packet is fun and should help your pupils generalize their skills to the real world (which is the aim of Speech Language Pathology in the first place). This product includes: 4 sessions or lessons for you to teach your students. Introduction (younger kids) Introduction (older kids) Conversation Steps The beginning ‘Introducing yourself, saying hello’. Mission 1 The middle ‘Chit chat’ Mission 2 Ending a conversation Mission 3 Putting it all together Mission 4 Certificate of Achievement NB I have provided a digital option for you to create digital activities with your clients if you wish! TIPS As you progress through each part of the worksheet, I encourage you to talk through each point with your clients. For example, in step two ‘Chit chat’, one of the points made is ‘don’t talk too much’. You could expand on this point by asking your kids what talking too much would look like! I have laminated my own version of the pack, so that I can reuse it again and again). Enjoy this resource! Because NO evaluation is complete without an oral motor evaluation/assessment. Otherwise known as the cranial nerve exam :) I don’t know about you, but in my opinion wearing masks makes it really difficult to carry out the essential oral motor assessment! Without a visual model, it can be pretty difficult for the client to understand what’s going on… That’s why I’ve included realistic pictures to support you in carrying out the oral motor evaluation! You can print these little picture cards out, laminate them for durability, punch a hole in them and stick them on a key ring! What’s included? X1 ‘Consent Form’: This could be used to facilitate the discussion prior to a client participating in an oral motor evaluation X1 Cranial nerve exam form, plus another sheet with additional information on the exam form!
