Broad Bean Experiment inc. resources, plan, slides

I did this as an observation lesson and I received 'outstanding' for it so I thought I would share! This is to teach the chn about how seeds germinate. I made them use their bodies to represent this e.g. spreading out limbs to represent 'sprouting'. There are slides which include a concept cartoon and 3 differentiated broad bean diary templates that I made into A5 booklets to monitor our broad beans over 3 weeks. This took HOURS to plan so enjoy!

This topic as focused on life under the sea including texts such as Hooray for Fish by Lucy Cousins, Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae and The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch by Ronda and David Armitage. The 27 files in this download include: - A Topic Web outlining curriculum objectives - English weekly plans - Maths weekly plans - Medium-term plans Please note that the first 7 weeks of planning for Maths and English involve continuous provision. Year 1 Letters and Sounds and Weekly Spellings Long-term Plan This document outlines a long-term plan for Letters and Sounds, streaming for 3 Phonics groups and recommended weekly spellings for each group in line with the HFWs and the sounds that have been covered each week. The plan starts with a whole-class review and consolidation of Phase 2 in the Autumn term. Differentiated weekly spellings start in the second half of the Autumn In the Spring term, Phonics teaching is streamed into three groups and the weekly spellings continue. I have not seen a document of this kind anywhere else so I produced it for Key Stage 1 in my school setting. It has been effective and ensured comprehensive coverage and progression of Letters and Sounds along with appropriate and useful spellings. This download includes a PDF version and an editable Word version. Enjoy!

Letters and Sounds Assessment/ Tracking DocumentPhases 1 - 6

This is a Letters and Sounds assessment to be used for each pupil. At my school we start this assessment in Reception and we assess the children one a term. The assessment is then past up to Year 1 and Year 2. This assessment clearly tracks the children's progress assessing their knowledge of the sounds, high frequency words, blending and segmenting relevant for each phase. I hope that this proves to be a useful tool for you in your setting. This download includes: - An original PDF version of the assessment that I use. - An editabe Word version to tailor the assessment to meet your needs.

Rainforest Coordinates - slides, and sheets

I did this for an obs lesson. Please find attached slides and 4 differentiated sheets using a 'chillies' startegy (mild, hot, spicy and extra spicy) to allow the children choice of independent task. The children drew rainforest animals in teh grids and had to swap them with a friend to locate the Aftican animals using coordinates e.g. the elephant is in B3. They then wrote sentences to describe this at the bottom of their sheets. Happy plotting!
