However if you are a teacher who thinks out of the box, relishes in motivating, challenging, engaging and seeing your student progress, then these resources are indeed for you. They are stimulating and so engaging that your students do not realize how hard they are working. Lesson Overview ‘Memory Hunt Revision’ KS4 and KS5 Why revision is important – simple question but gets them thinking 30 second dash memory game – information hunt Rank the information in order of importance – construct meaning from information Group paragraph maker – apply knowledge – 6 mark question practice Make revision poster – spider diagram on topic This revision lesson can be applied to any subject and any topic which makes it so powerful. Because of this the teacher will have to prepare 9 information slides each with 3 pieces of information relating to the chosen topic. I have added a set of slides from halogen (chemistry) revision as a template. This took me 10 mins to produce and I am not a chemist. This is a fantastic fun revision lesson suitable for all classes and all subjects. Lesson Overview ‘You’re the Examiner’ KS3 and KS4 Starter - Build your own keyword word search - children focus on keywords and meanings. Alternative starter is to use the crossword builder depending on group ability. Main - you’re the examiner, pupil group work, engaging and challenging. Plenary - Play snakes and ladders learning game- an educational twist on the classic - Make a revision spider diagram on topic This is a fantastic fun revision lesson suitable for all classes and all subjects, The 6 mark question buster - develops an understanding on exactly what is needed to answer these questions and gain full marks. This resource challenges the students and engages them in the area questioned and allows them to develop the skills to apply the knowledge in a meaningful and mark producing manor. Keyword enforcer - utilise memory techniques and topic understanding to reinforce important keywords and their meaning. Both activities can also be used in any lesson, I will use the keyword enforcer as a starter and the 6 mark question buster as a plenary to reinforce learning and enhance progression. It is also an excellent form of formative assessment at the end of the lesson.
