Scratch Jr Computing Scheme of work- 9 Coding Lessons for KS1/LKS2
This unit has been designed written for the Key Stage 1 Computing Curriculum, looking at the following NC objectives:
Understand what algorithms are; how they are implemented as programs on digital devices; and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions.
Create and debug simple programs
Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs
There is a sequence of 9 lessons, that progressively build on skills learnt on the app. The sequence of lessons pushes, from lesson 6 to 8, on the Key Stage 2 curriculum and would be suitable for teaching in Year 3.
There are 9 lessons in the unit, on the following topics:

Lesson 2- Scratch Jr Tinkering
Lesson 3- Movement Introduction
Lesson 4- Movement application
Lesson 5- Scenes
Lesson 6- Action Blocks
Lesson 7- Timing
Lesson 8- Adding Controls
Lesson 9- Project application/ assessment

Scratch KS2 6 Lessons Scheme of Work- sequence, repetition, controls, if selection and variables
This unit has been written for Key Stage 2 pupils to offer an overview to Scratch. The PowerPoint has been made with Scratch Online Version 3.
**There are six lessons in the unit, teaching the basics, introducing repetition through loops, if statements and variables. **
Lesson 1- Sequence
This lesson shows pupils how to change sprites and backgrounds, add code to make the sprites talk and make a sprite move across the screen.
Lesson 2- Repetition
This lesson looks at using the pen function to draw shapes and introduces the loop/repetition function.
Lesson 3- Controls
This lesson looks at how to add controls to make the sprites move, looking at completing this on both laptops and iPads.
Lesson 4- If Selection
This lesson shows the children how to make a racing car game, introducing the if statement.
Lesson 5- Variables
This lesson shows the children how to make a maze game, reinforcing the if statement and introducing variables for scores.
Lesson 6- Application
This lesson looks at creating a times table quiz, reinforcing the if statement and variables for scores.
