#### RIGHT ANGLES (KS1) with LESSON PLAN

A fun and creative activity to make maths engaging. I used this resource for the first lesson on right angles and it was really successful. It engaged and enthused children throughout the lesson with most of them going on to the challenge question. Teach the basics of right angles for the first part of the main. Then introduce your angle eater - model how to cut it out carefully otherwise it won't be a true right angle . have strips of coloured card on each table for them to decorate their angle eater for the first 5-7 minutes. This will engage them in the lesson and they will be enthusiastic as it is something they have personally made so they will be excited to use it in lesson. (Some of my children even wanted to take it home!) The worksheet is simple as it is designed for the first lesson on right angles. The challenge question does enable them to deepen their knowledge and understanding by getting them to really think about how right angles look in order to design their own shape. An excellent lesson package of which I would love to hear your feedback on it!

#### PERIMETER (Y3/4)

An interactive powerpoint and two worksheets for perimeter. Differentiate easily by writing on the measurements of the width and length of the shapes. I took the children outside for the first part of the lesson and they measured the football pen (in small groups) and we collectively worked out the perimeter of it. A perfect opportunity for outdoor learning. The children engaged with this activity which is zoo themed. An extension task idea: for them to work out the possible widths and lengths of a shape when given its total perimeter. All children met the desired outcomes which were to be able to understand what 'perimeter' is/means and how to calculate the perimeter of 2D shapes.

#### 'SAME-AS' FUN, INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY -DOMINOES)

SAME AS concept. KS1/2 MATHS ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, MULTIPLICATION, DIVISION Whilst this resoure took me a long time to make, I was amazed by how successful it really was when put into practice. The children were so engaged and wanted to work out every sum to then play the domino game. Some children even wanted to come back after their lunch to finish off linking their dominoes. GREAT RESULT! This 'domino' based activity helps children understand the 'same as' concept being that two different sums can give the same answer. Whilst I used this in a Y2 class, you can use it as an investigation activity higher up school. There are three differentiated domino activities (LA, MA, HA). Working in small groups (3-4s) the children must first work out the answers to the sums and then place the two ends of the dominos with the two sums that are the 'same as' each other. If they do this correctly, the dominoes will connect together to make on big rectangle. I first cut out all the dominoes so that there were no sets with missing dominoes and this saved a lot of lesson time. After the children had completed the investivagation, check their answers before they stick them down on an A3 sheet of paper. This can be photocopied onto A4 so each child can have their work stuck in their books. In the middle of the domino rectangle, I asked the children to write what 'same as' meant and also to draw the 'same as' symbol. This checked their understanding of the lesson outcome. This activity can also be used for INVESTIGATION activities. I would love to hear your feedback if you do choose to purchase thi resource and put it into your own practice. :)
